Comedian/Actor/Advocate & Activist Jon Stewart does a BEAUTIFUL job of systematically deconstructing and debunking the standard mantras and rhetoric used by "2nd Amendment" purists to defend resisting any gun control regulations.

Sen. Nathan Dahm (R-OK) uses EVERY talking point and "logic" that we've seen for YEARS on this site by "pro-gun, 2nd Amendment advocates. Stewart does in less than 10 minutes what I and others have been doing for years here...using facts and logic to directly challenge the rhetoric. Pity NONE of our political representatives do EXACTLY like this in Congress. Enjoy.

Unless jon Stewart tells us what regulation will prevent future shootings while simultaneously allowing people to exercise their 2nd amendment right, I don't really care what he has to say.

it is the absolute height of stupidity to believe that the founders would give ANY power or authority to the government to regulate their arms after they had just won a war for independence from a government that tried to regulate their arms.

You should pay attention to what was said in the exchange....Stewart aptly exposes that jokers like Dahm systematically vote against ANY legislation that will help law enforcement in dealing with (and in some cases preventing) murders committed by formerly banned weapons. Registration, back ground checks, removal of specific assault weapons, funding for better, affordable mental health facilities ... all these things Dahm's party has had a majority vote AGAINST ... despite not being able to logically or rationally demonstrate how enacting any of those proposal's would deprive any law abiding citizens of their 2nd Amendment rights, as we see with Dahm.

Your proud willful ignorance non-withstanding, Dahm is merely the political representation of the rhetoric you hold so dear. And as the objective, rational reader can see, Dahm's blather does NOT stand up to scrutiny.

Your first sentence is just a collection of sour grapes with no substance. Any fool can call names...logically and factually proving those accusations is a whole other smoke. You fail at that.

Okay, let me dumb it down for you: Dahm blathers the SOS that essentially prevents any purposeful gains in gun control legislation, as Stewart points out. The "order" is the system of law enforcement. Systematically voting against ANY legislation that will help law enforcement in dealing with (and in some cases preventing) murders committed by formerly banned weapons brings chaos. Registration, back ground checks, removal of specific assault weapons, funding for better, affordable mental health facilities ... all these things Dahm's party has had a majority vote AGAINST ... despite not being able to logically or rationally demonstrate how enacting any of those proposal's would deprive any law abiding citizens of their 2nd Amendment rights, as we see with Dahm. Remember, weapons that were formerly on the 1994 AWB list became the weapon of choice for many of the mass shootings we've experienced in the last 20 some odd years.

And yet they did with these simple words, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It's the height of stupidity to try and isolate the first 4 words of this amendment ... whom do you think regulated that militia? Could it be a form of LOCAL GOVERNMENT in conjunction with a federal mandate?

They use the old tried-and-true "slippery slope" argument against any and all gun regulations. "If we let them ban ARs, next they'll ban .357s and shotguns and .22s."
