But the State is the people. They all expand to generate greater wealth for members of the State at the expense of the conquered.

"The State" isn't a singular entity. It's more like the ball in the game Push Ball. It goes where the summation of human will takes it. No one person controls much for long if others are against them. Caligula-types are seen small countries, not nations. While greater power may be among the wealthiest citizens (think Citizens United), "the people" still have a voice by sheer numbers.

FWIW, yes, democracy doesn't work for nations which is why republics are used.

"Made for" but also usable by nations. Are you saying the US doesn't work? That the past few centuries were a colossal failure?

No system is perfect but with the current level of human technology the current system seems to work best: a constitutional federal republic fueled by a capitalist economy with a socialist safety net for the elderly, sick and children.

interesting......I see one of the factors they use to measure how "free" a country is is how many same sex marriages there are.......I guess the gayer you are the better you are......
 
What a terrible choice. I worry that America is vulnerable to a Fascist and was happy that Trump was stupid and lazy. He did show how it could be done. Desantis is smarter and perhaps as self-centered and ruthless as Trump is. I do not know if America survives Trump or DeSantis. But daffy is still lazy and stupid, so I would pick him. It is a Mortons Fork for sure.
 
Well this poll is for the "GOP NOMINATION" so perhaps not your cup of rage, but many want it poured, stirred & thrown in the faces of their perceived enemies, aka other Americans w/ differing views...

Thus far the X- is way behind in this poll & he lost the real one....:thinking: Good news for the USA!!!
