The Taliban has reportedly made major advances in Kandahar, reaching the city’s center. The country’s second-largest city is now apparently on verge of collapse, and the militants have already seized some 10 provincial capitals.
The militant group claimed to have captured the southern city of Kandahar on Thursday after days of intense fighting against government troops. Footage released by the Taliban shows the group’s members reaching the city’s central square.

In order for the Taliban to succeed, they need the backing of the people. It appears they have that. When the people are on their side, you cannot win.

The Taliban has claimed complete control over Kandahar following fierce fighting, as officials confirm that government forces have retreated from the second-largest city.
A spokesperson for the militant group posted a statement on Friday announcing that Afghanistan’s most important provinces – Kandahar, Helmand, Herat and Badghis – had been completely conquered.

The Taliban said it had seized hundreds of weapons and vehicles, as well as large amounts of ammunition, following the successful military operation.

An Afghan member of parliament who spoke with CNN confirmed the city was no longer under the control of the Kabul government.

“Many (government) soldiers surrendered and the rest fled,” Gul Ahmad Kamin told the outlet, adding that some Afghan forces were still waiting to be evacuated from the city.

Who do you think was behind that then ?

So- the Taliban have surrounded Kabul and activated sleeper cells , so you may as well accept that Kabul has fallen.
Al Jazeera tv shows US Chinooks discharging anti-missile flares as they scurry back and forth trying to airlift Americans but the Taliban state that they will not engage and are sitting ' outside the city gates ' waiting for the defeated Afghan government to hand over power peacefully.
As the Afghan army has capitulated and handed over ALL the armaments and equipment given to it by the US it seems that the ' west ' has created a powerful and heavily-armed state that doesn't like us.
Afghan collaborators are desperate to be airlifted out- thousands of them. The Taliban has given permission for them to leave unharmed. If Biden abandons them you might as well write him off as a gutless rat-fink . On the other hand, if he has the courage to bring these people to America then he will have gone a long way towards repairing the gigantic Afghanistan clusterfuck .

It has taken them just a week to take control of the whole country. Whichever US commander estimated ' 90 days ' to take Kabul ought to be fired.

Full coverage of real-time events on Al Jazeera TV. Their journalists are still on the roof-tops filming the Afghan surrender and the US retreat. Brave girls.
