If a radio station plays songs you don't like, don't listen. If a television show is objectionable to you, don't watch it. If a state does something you don't like, don't go there on vacation. From now on when I go to pick up my kids in Tucson I will fill my tank in Lordsburg New Mexico and not have to purchase any gas with AZ gas taxes. The truth is the law is written in a way that it does not instruct police to blatantly stop brown people but it does say that they can stop anyone they think may be violating any law. That includes their law that says you can't be in Arizona if you are an illegal alien. So if a cop suspects that he can stop someone and ask for ID. I have medium brown hair, blue eyes and a ruddy complexion. I am not going to get stopped and asked if I am a citizen, never in my life. Neither will any other white people. Let Arizona have this law, like the owner of the Tucson Inn, the state will discover the dangers of passing xenophobic laws like this one.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36791991/ns/us_news-the_new_york_times
I lived in Arizona at the time doing the last boycott against this state, it worked too!
Arizona was one of the last states to adopt a holiday honoring Martin Luther King — a reluctance that led to a boycott in the 1980s that cost the city hundreds of conventions and the Super Bowl XXVII, in 1993. The pressure, and the financial pinch, led the state to put the holiday on the ballot. Voters approved the measure, making Martin Luther King Day a holiday. Steps like the one proposed by San Francisco would remind the state's lawmakers their decision could have economic and political consequences, Herrera said.
I am not arguing that it is not a lie. May be. I don't have any proof that it is, do you? Again a lie requires intent to distort.
So you don't think when Huffington, Jon Stewart and Mr. Spite claim that Tancredo suggested the AZ law "went too far" it was done with the intent to distort? They simply "misspoke" in your opinion? How about when Bush said Iraq had WMD's?
A LIE is when someone says something that isn't true, KNOWING it's not true! By your standards, I could say you are a raging homosexual who frequents gay porn sites... I don't know that it's not true, may be... so have I lied? When all of your associates don't want to have anything to do with you anymore, and you're getting spammed by Waterhead and Prissy for a date, and your own mother won't return you phone calls... does it matter if I claim I "misspoke" then? Does it mean I didn't tell a LIE?
I think the "intent" was very clear, HuffPo, Stewart, and Mr. Spite, obviously wanted to convey the idea that a prominent right-winger thought the Arizona law went too far! The damage was done, they got several days of implication out of it, and then HuffPo admits they were incorrect! Stewart and Mr. Spite get a pass because they were just repeating what they heard, but again, the damage has been done!
You can defend this all you like, it's obvious to anyone with half a brain (or even 1/3 of a brain) that a LIE was told. Incidentally, when you divide one into three parts, a remainder exists, and it doesn't matter if you assume the remainder in one of the three equal parts, it still exists.
