Teach Racial History In Schools?

The right seems to have a big problem with racism.

The Trump Party has made it perfectly clear they want to preserve white privilege. (Even though most of them don't want to admit it.)

CRT is nothing but a proxy battle over racism.

The Trump Party is very clear they do not want something called CRT taught in schools. Most of them don't even know what it is, or that it is not actually taught, but they know they don't want it. They have been told by Tucker Carlson that CRT means before you can have a discussion about racism, that you first have to admit: if you are white, then you are a racist.

That's their understanding of it, and that's all they need to know to know they don't want it.

They don't want to have to admit they are a racist because they don't feel like a racist.

OK, I'm good with that.

If you're not a racist then you should have no objection to teaching all about our racial history in public schools.

I'm sure there already is some teaching about racial history in schools. It's probably not enough, whatever they do. Mention it sometimes? Racial tension is a huge problem in America.

We have got to take definitive steps to address this issue.

It's cross-generational. It's been going on for many generations.

We have to try to improve the situation. We need to teach our young people about the problem and talk about changing the way we think about this, maybe having some children try to approach it differently than their parents.

We need to teach our real racial history in schools and talk about how people should act differently than they do now. The next generation is the future. We can help shape that now.

Should American schools teach about our real racial history and how it has and does affect our country?

If you're not a racist then you think races are equal and you should welcome a mixing of the races and you should welcome our schools teaching about mixing races.

You should welcome teaching about the problems that racism and hatred are causing in our society.

You should acknowledge that racism is a problem and education is the key to solving it.

Unless you have a better idea to reduce racism in America..................................................

They shouldn't be taught from a racial perspective, that is one that makes race the centerpiece of the lesson.

Hmm. So how would you teach it then? How would you explain, as Lefty mentioned, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and why it was necessary? When older kids are studying the Constitution and its amendments in civics class, how will you explain voting rights without mentioning race?

Basically the RW does not want race or discrimination or even slavery mentioned in school, period. They do not want the extermination of native people and their current fight for recognition to be taught either.

Why is that? It's not going away just because you try to whitewash it, pun intended.

Ironically, Signalman Kenneth just put up his Sunday Funnies thread. This was included:

Yes. From Pre-School on, we must drumbeat the difference between 'Black' and 'White'. We must stress on a daily basis how Black people came from Africa as Slaves, and White people came from Europe as Colonists and Conquerors. Only through constant re-inforcing of hatred can we ever become Brothers and Sisters. Whites need to know what they did, how they single-handedly fucked the world up. And Blacks need to know that whatever their shortcomings are, it's the White people that caused it. Naturally, we won't mention that Slavery has been around for 10,000 years nor that Blacks enslaved Blacks in Africa and sold them to whoever had the money. Africa would have put the First Man on the Moon, except ... for White people. Same with the Auto, another invention Black people would have invented ... except for White people. Electricity, Steam Engine, Nuclear Power, the list goes on, all could have been invented in Africa, but ... White people. Indoctrinating our young children with Racial Hatred would be good for America. Maybe we could have a Civil War? China and Russia would love that.

Good Thinking, Poli. Let's not try and live in a Post Racial society. Let's keep churning the pot. Why identify as 'Americans' when we can keep the division alive with racial designations like 'African-Americans'? I really doubt that do that anywhere else. 'African-French'? 'African-Argentine'? 'Africa-Filipino'?

I was taught about how Europeans came here and took the Native Land. I was taught about Slavery, in Rome, in other countries, in the US. I imagine every American was taught the same thing.

Careful! The retards might take you seriously.

I am serious. I support 'Brotherhood'. Poli sounds as though he wants to start teaching 'racial division' from kindergarten on. My opinion, probably not a useful topic at that age. Counter productive.

True. They should start at middle school. But then again I am pretty sure they already know all about racism.

I think it's a subject in a College Course where it can be discussed and analyzed to see if it is happening in any aspects of current life. Like in Housing, Employment, Law Enforcement.

That would be the actual CRT. :rofl2:
