Officials say 29-year-old Martin Rye Brown of Silver Spring was arrested Tuesday on charges of prostitution and human trafficking.

Brown is accused of soliciting a prostitute and renting a room that was used for prostitution.

Police say Brown is a teacher at Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School.

An elementary school teacher was arrested after he was caught texting with a student, police announced.

Scott Smessaert, 42, has been charged with one Class C misdemeanor count, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff's office.

Smessaert, a teacher from Harrison Elementary School, "was conversing with a student through text messages outside of school," police said.

"Due to the content of the text messages," he had become the subject of an investigation by the sheriff's office, which was initially contacted by the Department of Children and Family Services.

An elementary school teacher was arrested and charged with 25 counts of child pornography, a state official said.

William M. Herkins IV, 50, was employed as a teacher at Carrcroft Elementary School at the time of his arrest.

Leslie E. Deane Jr., 64, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child by a custodian, according to Chesterfield Police.

Earlier this month, police said they received a report that Deane had inappropriately touched a juvenile female, who is known to him, on at least one occasion. The victim attends an in-home daycare that is operated at Deane’s residence.

Deane has worked in Hanover County Public Schools for 25 years. He is currently a teacher at Chickahominy Middle School.

A teacher has been arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a student under the age of 18.

Amelia Tat, a teacher, is charged with three felony counts of carnal knowledge of a minor — two counts in Albemarle, one in Lynchburg — and one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship.

Superintendent Jeff Comer confirmed Tat just finished her first year as a science teacher at NCHS and is still employed there. She also served as an assistant varsity girls’ soccer coach this year.

The arrest was based on a police investigation into alleged sexual activity while Tat was a science teacher.

A long-time Atchison educator was arrested on charges related to alleged sex crimes involving a child.

Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson says 39-year-old Robert Bulk was apprehended following a short investigation.

“This arrest is the result of an investigation that focused on unlawful activity involving a child under the age of 16 between March and June,” Wilson said.

Bulk was taken into custody on charges of electronic solicitation of a child and exploitation of a child. He also faces charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Bulk has been with the district for 17 years, most recently teaching computers and technology to sixth, seventh and eighth graders. There’s no immediate word on whether the victim was a student at the school.

Bulk has been placed on administrative leave.

Bulk also serves with the Atchison County Democrat Party. Following his arrest, a spokesperson for the Kansas Democrat Party issued a statement, saying they have asked him to step down from his position.

A Tyler County teacher has been arrested after allegedly sending nude pictures of herself to students.

Tyler County Schools Human Resources Director Duane Dober confirms Jessica Stine is currently still employed there, but there is no word on whether or not she will be suspended or terminated come the start of the school year.

Stine was contacting the students through Instagram, according to a criminal complaint.

Stine, 34, is an 8th grade English teacher at Tyler Consolidated Middle School. She is charged with three counts of using obscene materials to seduce a minor. The three charges are felonies.

A criminal complaint says, in all, five students were interviewed by officers.

"It was reported to me that there were juveniles that did receive nude messages through Instagram of the defendant," Cpl. J.E. Dean of the West Virginia State Police said.

Detectives have arrested a West Albany High School teacher on suspicion of attempted sex abuse and luring a minor.

James Walter Myrick, 28, used his position as a teacher to try to coerce a 17-year-old female student into sexual contact with him, according to Albany police Captain Eric Carter.

The investigation began six weeks ago when a student reported concerns that Myrick was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Detectives arrested Myrick at his Albany home and took him to the Linn County Jail. Myrick faces charges of attempted sex abuse (3rd degree), official misconduct, luring a minor, tampering with a witness and coercion.

Police say they have reason to believe that there are other victims who have not come forward.

Donell Garris, III, a teacher at North Lenoir High School, was arrested by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office for having sex with a student, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Lenoir County Public School officials got a tip about a relationship between Garris and a student on Monday. After detectives worked last night and into Tuesday morning, they found out these incidents occurred during the summer.

They say proof was also established that Garris engaged in relations with the student on school property.

He was charged with six felony counts of sexual acts with a student.

Ryan England, a teacher at Panama High School, was arrested after an investigation spanning several months finally concluded, according to an arrest affidavit.

England had performed sexual acts with a female student multiple times, and had exchanged inappropriate pictures with the student through a social media application, the document stated.

He had performed these acts on the school premises and other locations, such as a cattle trailer, according to the affidavit.

England denied the allegations while being interviewed by police officers.

After evidence samples were taken by investigators from England’s office, police obtained a search warrant, arrived at England’s residence and swabbed DNA samples. The samples matched, and England was arrested.

A teacher has been arrested after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

According to New Britain police, the New Britain school district contacted police to report that a middle school math teacher may be having a relationship with a high school student.

Kelsey Cabral, 33, who teaches at Slade Middle School, has been charged after a student told administrators about the relationship. Evidence was found to substantiate those claims.

He is charged with risk of injury to children by sexual contact; sexual assault in the fourth degree; risk of injury to children by impairing morals; tampering with a witness; and criminal attempt to tamper with evidence.

A local teacher was arrested on suspicion of open and gross lewdness, according to the Reno Police Department.

Police said in a statement that a 16-year-old girl reported to detectives in the sex crimes unit that her teacher inappropriately touched her.

In the course of the investigation, detectives found evidence that indicated the teacher inappropriately touched her since April, police allege.

The teacher, identified as 69-year-old William Weiser, met with detectives and he was taken into custody on suspicion of open and gross lewdness.

According to police, detectives believe there could be other victims, and that Weiser was a suspect in a separate investigation from several years ago.

An Aiken County teacher has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

William Warden turned himself in to Aiken Public Safety on July 29th.

After an interview, he was placed under arrest.

Warden is a math teacher at Aiken High School.

He faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, soliciting a minor, and sexual exploitation of a minor.

A teacher is facing charges of soliciting a minor for sex via cell phone.

According to a warrant New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Trisha Anderson Rogers today for soliciting a minor under 16.

Rogers was a teacher at Murray Middle School at the time of the alleged crime, and the 13-year-old victim was a student at the school.

Investigators claim Rogers used a cell phone to try and meet with the child for “an unlawful sex act.”

Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says the the investigation into Rogers began in May.

Rogers is charged with soliciting a child by computer, indecent liberties with a child and indecent liberties with a student.

A middle school teacher in Millbrae was arrested Wednesday for allegedly having an “inappropriate” relationship with a girl, according to police.

Heather Amanda Butts, 40, a teacher at Taylor Middle School, was arrested on suspicion of lewd or lascivious acts involving a child after San Bruno police received a report that a woman was engaged in inappropriate behavior with the girl, police said.

The report came in Butts and the girl were reportedly in a car together that was parked on Santa Helena Avenue in San Bruno, according to police.

An arrest warrant was issued for Butts, who was arrested at her home in Millbrae on Wednesday. Officers also executed a search warrant at her house.

A Parkview Christian Academy & Child Care teacher was arrested Friday after the teacher reportedly hit a 2-year-old child with the handle of a dust pan, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Whitney Danne Richter, 25, was arrested after a mother of the child filed a police report on July 21 when the child care center notified the mother that her 2-year-old child had been spanked by a teacher. Swanton said when the child got home, the mother saw injuries to the child and called police.

“Injuries consisted of some redness, long red marks that appeared to be fresh on the buttocks of the child,” Swanton said. “What we had discovered was that the suspect was the teacher of the little 2-year-old and the 2-year-old had pooped in her pants and the teacher took her into a room and spanked the child with a dust pan handle, causing the injuries.”

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that the warrant division arrested 29-year-old Kari Boll, West Central High School special education teacher, for three counts of rape in the 4th degree, which is a class 3 felony.

Boll is being held in the Minnehaha County Jail on $25,000 cash or surety bond.

The male victim was 15 years old at the time of the incident. The relationship between the student and teacher began in May 2016 and has continued until recently.

A high school teacher was arrested Friday, accused of having what police describe as “inappropriate contact” with an underage student.

Earlier this month Templeton Police received information that a Narragansett Regional High School teacher had a past relationship with a former student.

While interviewing the former student, a school resource officer learned that the teacher also may have been in contact with a current student.

On Thursday, police interviewed the current student and discovered that the teacher and student had contact during the last school year.

Earl Friday morning, Templeton Police arrested Matthew Kacavich of Worcester and charged him with obscene matter to a minor and trafficking of a person under 18 for sexual servitude.
