Tell atheists to shut it in a constitutional way!

Why does it bother you so? They changed it to be less offensive to the very large number of people who don't think Jesus is Lord.

So, are we going to amend it out of the Constitution, or would THAT be taking it too far. How pretentious must we be to ensure everyone's feelings are checked. As I pointed out, "Common Era," is also insensitive, because it places Western culture above everyone else, as the measuring stick for what is commonly assumed.

It bothers me because it was only done to give Christians the finger. It's still 2013, it's still 2,013 years since Christ, there is nothing different about it except the "fuck you."

I have no deity in my life, BUT it is still AD and BC because those are the labels we use. I enjoy Christmas and will soon enjoy Easter. They are feasts which mark the progress of the year. I certainly attach no religious significance to them. I love grand cathedrals and oratorios, some hymns are quite stirring. But still no religious significance.
Science is not barred to the religious, christians may study it, enjoy it or choose to ignore it.

I would add to Low's point, being a Christian, I am not offended by "Algebra," which I have spent time trying to master so I can one day try to figure out calculus. Also, I am not offended by July, August (Julius Caesar and his adopted brat) any of the days of the week (all of which are pagan references), public references to the Chinese New Year, morning DJ's broadcasting the daily Horoscope, or the litany of non-Christian traditions which have long been a part of my society.

Heck, I am a huge Anglophile, regardless of the fact that Catholics suffered the most under that kingdom's Reformation than any other, and that my country was founded through war against it, followed by another (embarrassing) war 30 years later. I appreciate the fact, that even though much of what I hold dear has long been scorned by dear old England, it is my true cultural heritage. In some ways, I am more English than its subjects, because I still cling to its measuring systems.

please note how many 'religious' events occur around the solstices and equinoxes which were pagan celebrations long before christ

you neglected to include geometry and trigonometry that must be mastered along with algebra before you can begin to understand calculus

as for real number theory, it should be introduced along with basic arithmetic rather than waiting until teaching it during calculus

as for using the english measuring system instead of the metric, that is a provincial crock of excrement perpetrated on the u s due to a laziness of not wanting to convert to a rational measuring system

oh well

It's a cost-benefit thing. We have so much equipment in circulation that it would cost billions to update to metric. I have no problem with the idea of one day updating to metric, because it is a superior system. I do find celcius completely alien, and can never picture in my mind what a given temperature would feel like.

He mentioned algebra because it is from the Arabic and by extension Islamic. I'm sure you are aware of that. I mention it for those less well educated than yourself.
Geometry stems from our dear friend Euclid - Euclidian geometry does, so has no religious connotations.

It is a pity that you didnt make the change when we did. Buying stuff from the US can be an absolute pain and to try to follow American standards just makes uneccessary work. Out here it is UK, Euro, Oz and Jap.
Weights can be even worse here than in the US. How many strawberries in a catty? How many catties in a kilo?
Here is a bit more:
Definition of CATTY
: any of various units of weight of China and southeast Asia varying around 11⁄3 pounds (about 600 grams); also: a standard Chinese unit equal to 1.1023 pounds (500 grams)
Origin of CATTY
Malay kati
First Known Use: 1598
