Any gasoline car has the power to merge and accelerate into traffic quickly (assuming it's running properly).

The problem is the DRIVER, not the car. EV drivers (particularly Tesla drivers) are like 'robots' (sometimes it IS the robot) driving the car. EV drivers tend to not pay attention to the road. They are slow getting into traffic, may swerve suddenly (and have even caused wrecks doing this!), or even get confused whether to merge or not! I've seen Tesla drivers pass ON the on ramp or jump the ramp traffic (VERY DANGEROUS).

I've seen Tesla drivers cross four lanes of traffic in less than a quarter mile to get into their 'privileged lane' or to make an exit from that lane.

EV drivers tend to be arrogant SOBs. A lot of it has to do with this 'elite' idealism they have. They actually think they are 'saving the planet'.

Yes, they are also slower than a funny car.

They are slower than a lot of cars, particularly on cross country trips. Their drivers are trying to go slower to save the battery enough to make to the next charging station.

It is no thrill. I used to drive a Jaguar XKE. It was quite fast. Now I am into safety and pollution. I care about the future. I am way past childish thrills on the streets. I grew up.

EVs are not safer. They are actually more dangerous due to their poorer maneuverability and excess weight, their fires, and their poorer quality drivers (let the robot drive!).

EVs waste almost twice as much energy to go the same distance as a gasoline car. That means more coal fired power plants and natural gas power plants, dude.
