We find the toughest races in the world—The 24 Hours of Nürburgring, The Baja 1000—24 Hours of Le Mans — and design vehicles to compete in those challenges. Then we make road-legal versions.

The McMurtry Spéirling is a single-seat electric car.

The car has rear wheel drive using two electric motors placed inside a specially designed axle called an e-axle, and uses carbon brakes. The body has a monocoque structure made of carbon fiber. The battery is integrated into a separate safety cell inside the monocoque.

A special design aspect of the car its active downforce system without the use of a front or rear wing (and the associated extra drag which would have resulted) by means of a 60 kW fan which provides an extra 500 kg of downward force.

607bhp, V12-engined T.33

The 3.9-litre, naturally aspirated V12 now makes 607bhp, and revs to 11,100rpm. It has a power-to-weight ratio of 556bhp per tonne, and delivers 75 per cent of its maximum torque at just 2,500rpm, 90 per cent of it from 4,500rpm to 10,500rpm.

Racing specialists Xtrac have supplied an ultra-lightweight (82kg) six-speed manual gearbox, but new for the T.33 is an optional paddle-shift semi-auto, dubbed the Instantaneous Gearchange System (IGS), which delivers a genuinely seamless shift with no torque interruption and without the need for dual clutches or dog rings.

There’s also a new carbon fiber monocoque, using Murray’s patented iFrame and cored, honeycomb carbon fiber body panels for the expected blend of rigidity and light weight.
