The poor pay a larger percentage of their income in taxes that the upper classes do. They pay sales tax, state taxes, gasoline taxes, and many more. They are more taxed than the wealthy. Just not so much in national income tax.

It's not trickle down in any way, shape, or manner. The phrase trickle down is the argument that if money is given to the rich, they'll use it for things which will create wealth that goes to people with less wealth. It's always been an idea that has a little truth that is greatly exaggerated as propaganda to justify giving huge tax cuts to the rich instead of others. Very little actually 'trickles down'. The day you offer economic programs that give a better distribution of wealth, we can talk about dependency.

The multiplier effect is greater by putting it in the hands of poorer people than richer ones. The poorer is going to spend a higher percentage of that, while the wealthy will save a higher percentage. The higher Marginal Propensity for Saving (MPS) lowers the multiplier effect on the economy. A higher Marginal Propensity for Consuming (MPC) increases the multiplier effect.

Why are they hiring top flight accountants and lawyers to avoid taxes. Why are they moving headquarters to islands with very little taxes? Depends on whether you think Congress has made wise choices in how they spend our money. If not, taking more money from the people and giving it to the government is a poor way to distribute our money. Also, there is the element of freedom in how we spend our money and how much government should take. Criticizing "huge tax breaks to the rich" assumes government made a wise choice in taxing them that money to start.
