I agree that it is a delaying tactic, however, I do not agree that there is nothing more to it.
And you know as much as I do, that the FBI is responsible for doing character, as well as legal background checks on Justice appointees.
The only precedent any of us have in this, is the 1991 approval process of Clarence Thomas, where the Republicans basically put Anita Harris on trial and used the same old Male Chauvinistic character assassinations of women in general and made her out to be a whore by a panel of only male chauvinists.
So, what is happening right now is a repeat of history, that is going to be played out before the court of public opinion, as some of the same old male chauvinists like Orr will be exposing themselves once again as male chauvinists at a time when women will be a part of the interrogation process of the potential Justice and the victim.
And trust me, the whole Anita Harris hearing will be played back for a new generation of women to see how she was mistreated and denigrated by the Republicans the last time.
So most women voters will see how women are really treated by Republicans for all to see, judge for themselves, and vote accordingly in the next election.
So basically, not only is it a delaying tactic, it is also an eye-opener optic-event tactic for women voters to witness!
Now, let's just all relax, grab some popcorn, and watch history being made 2018 style!

Kagan was, and has proven to be, a credible appointee, she received 67 votes in the Senate and even passed the Judiciary Committte with some Republican support. Since then, she has been a contributing Justice, has authored both majority and minority reports, something Thomas has done extremely rarely especially considering the time he has been on the Court. In addition, she hasn't waited close to a decade to ask questions
This is about more than just this one accusation; this is about how the GOP knew of this accusation, and probably many more, and went to lengths to prep a document that speaks to Brett's character because they foresaw this exact scenario happening.
So the GOP covered this up; what else of Brett are they covering up? His time in the Bush the Dumber swamp. To me, what he did while working for Bush the Dumber is far more serious and consequential than his proclivity to sexual violence. And the GOP has obscured and obstructed 96% of his time in the Bush the Dumber swamp. Why? What are they hiding from his time in the Bush the Dumber swamp? What did he lie about? What did he cover up? All his correspondence from his time as a Bush the Dumber stooge should be brought to the surface. If Kagan and Sotomayor had to dump virtually all of their docs and correspondence, then so should he.
