Way to completely miss the point Dix. The limk was about methane, a very powerful greenhouse gas.
Yeah, methane... cow farts! I understand it's one of many greenhouse gases, and anyone who has smelled a cow fart knows it's very powerful indeed. This doesn't change the fact that 80% of "greenhouse gas" is water vapor. And it doesn't change the fact that the 'greenhouse effect' is essential for every life form on the planet, and without it, we'd all die.
If you calculated ALL of mankind's historic contributions to our environment in tons, every man-made contribution to 'greenhouse gas' and add to that, all environmentally dangerous toxins and pollutants. From the beginning of the Industrial Revolution until today, human contribution in tons is about 1/10 of what Mother Nature has produced on her own. This means, for every gallon of oil gushed from a broken pipeline, there are 10 gallons of oil, sulfur, acidic compounds, carcinogens, dioxides, monoxides, and other assorted environmentally harmful elements, released by Mother Nature. Most of the time, these releases by Mother Nature are massive in volume, and happen during volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. This has been happening for 4.5 billion years. Guess what? The planet cleans it up and retains balance, eventually.
Now, since we know this to be the case, we can say that if it comes down to
Us vs. The Planet, The Planet will win. If we are contributing
too much dangerous crap to the environment, Mother Nature may have to eliminate many of us, so that the planet recovers and returns to proper balance again, but eventually The Planet is going to win. We can't stop what Mother Nature is going to do, it's out of our hands to control. Our contribution is insignificant in comparison to what Mother Nature already does. We don't control volcanoes and earthquakes, we can't stop the massive discharges from those, or undo the ecological damage they create. Hell, we can't even predict when these discharges are going to happen!
Environment and Climate are tow completely different things. We can do things to clean up our environment, we can stop polluting our fresh water supplies, and destroying our wetlands. We can crack down on chemical disposal or discharge, and toxic pollution, things like mercury and pesticides, being dumped in rivers and streams by factories, etc. I'm all on board with those type initiatives, because this is something productive we can do, to clean up our act. But the 'global warming/climate change' bullshit, is nothing more than charlatan propaganda and myth, concocted by socialists who have become wealthy promoting it. And some very gullible people continue to lap it up!
