We need one so that 1/3 of the population dies of sickness and starvation, and another third dies from a reign of terror/great purge. That will pretty much just leave conservative and libertarian-minded citizens, since leftists don't thrive under arduous conditions.

Populism is not socialism. It's just what's good for people. When capitalism is serving the people, it should be left alone, but when it's conducted in a lopsided way and is being used as a one way money suck out of a given society, that society has the right to place limits on it so it works (basically) for all citizens.

Government has the right to sculpt trade policy with an eye towards serving the people better. All the people. Not just internationalist fascists.

I am not totally ruling out the cliff scenario, where nothing seems wrong, then it suddenly collapses, but usually there is some warning. For decades now, we have been paying bizarrely low interest rates on public debt, and the Dollar has been strong. This is the opposite of a warning that time is running out.

Even if I am wrong, Democrats tend to reduce the budget and trade deficit, so after the initial issues, things will start getting better.

I just spent 10 minutes trying to figure out why this "new guy's" link did not work. Then I realized that it was a 10 year old thread, that for some reason you revived. The link did not work, because it was from 2010. He was not a "new guy", but someone I had not seen before because he was from back 10 years ago.

Nothing is going to get better with Biden being president, and everybody will be poorer and be inclined to be before he's done. Seriously.
