that interesting.....why is it never formalized....and instead this murky tradition that even the democratic party won't mention on their website

perhaps is it....because..........last i checked, the president was the leader of the country, not any one party.....you know.....three branches stuff and all and why both parties rail against those who claim obama (or whomever is president) is not their leader/president.....

the president is not only the leader of the country, he is the de facto leader of his party.... Roosevelt was the leader of the democratic party while he was in office. Ike was the leader of the republican party while HE was in office... Reagan was certainly the leader of the republican party while HE was in office....

And Obama is the leader of the democratic party, despite your laughably disingenuous democrat.org website chuckler.

And when the lady was talking about the republicans needing to advance thier new policy blueprint, she said that you needed a great white hope...

and you want to say that there are no racial overtones in using that phrase to describe what a mostly white political party needs to do to prevail over the other party whose standard bearer and leader is a BLACK man?

The lady chose her words terribly, and she apologized for it... even if she didn't MEAN to say that you needed a great WHITE hope to beat the party led by a BLACK man, she used a phrase that MANY MANY people felt did say exactly that.

And rather than just say....ooops.... bad choice of words there congresswoman... that was not really all that cool of a thing to say.... YOU want to dig out google searches that show that that phrase NOW means something that is not racial, and DISREGARD the fact that, when it is said about mounting an offensive from a white political party against a party led by a black man, it DOES have a racial connotation that needs to be addressed and acknowledged and retracted , even if if was not "deliberate".

oh....so quoting the DNC website is now a "chuckler" and not factual....thanks for that....

de facto....many believed gwb was not the leader of the republicans....so your de facto.....is merely.....de opinion......and do you even realize how far you have to stretch now.....you have to reach into "de facto" arguments to claim she was talking about obama specifically. you have failed repeatedly to show any racial congruent argument in this thread.....other than your conjecture about what you think she meant.....

yeah.....key word.....and her explanation that she didn't know it carried bad connotations.....yeah.....

shall we entertain why grind asked you about your pedophile comment a couple of days ago.....he said you "suggested" it.....you claimed you didn't.....

don't be a hypocrite now

you fucked up the quote function so badly, I can barely figure out what is going on there.

drunk again on margaritas?

so you can't debate....you obviously know which quotes were mine and which are yours.....i missed solely the middle....any idiot, even you can see that.....

not drunk yet.....i've had only two.......why don't you try debating actual content as much as you like to insult and let's see......:clink:

so....do you really need me to go back and requote....or are you going to be honest and admit you know exactly what i said.....and debate that instead of your usual insults

so.... you don't like it when people accuse you of being a drunk?

imagine that.

so.... here we are this morning... with a little time before going to work, and I'll attempt to decipher your botched quoting job and try to address your points.

oh....so quoting the DNC website is now a "chuckler" and not factual....thanks for that....

it is a chuckler when you attempt to use it as proof that Obama is not the leader of the democratic party. absolutely.

de facto....many believed gwb was not the leader of the republicans....so your de facto.....is merely.....de opinion......and do you even realize how far you have to stretch now.....you have to reach into "de facto" arguments to claim she was talking about obama specifically. you have failed repeatedly to show any racial congruent argument in this thread.....other than your conjecture about what you think she meant....

de facto is the precise term to use. Do you think that anyone would try to say that Michael Steele is the LEADER of the republican party in America? But I could show you a website where it said he was.... the democratic party's leader is Barack Obama and your use of the website to disprove that is silly... and I don't KNOW who she was talking about "specifically". I DO know that the leader, the head, the standardbearer, the top dog, the heavyweight champ, if you will, of the democratic party is Barack Obama... and he IS BLACK. And when a republican today says that their party needs a great white hope to regain control, i.e. to beat the democrats, that can certainly be reasonably and rationally construed to be a racist comment which harkens back to the original use of the term. It may very well be able to be used in non-racial meanings today, but when you are talking about a white party going against a party led by a BLACK man, it is reasonable and rational to read that idiomatic expression as racist.

and her explanation that she didn't know it carried bad connotations.....yeah.....
I don't believe her. That phrase is well enough known... it wasn't just used in 1910, it was the title of a tony award winning broadway play and a successful movie.
shall we entertain why grind asked you about your pedophile comment a couple of days ago.....he said you "suggested" it.....you claimed you didn't.....

grind can infer what he wants from my words. My comment was not a "pedophile comment", pure and simple. I merely stated that I was not at all surprised that southernman would be the guy to seek out and find youtube clips about fat squealing boys... because southernman is an crazy obsessed asshole, and a weirdo and an internet stalker who finds people's home addresses and goes on google and looks at their houses... he is weird. I am not surprised at any twist or turn that his weirdness takes him... and you are his buddy. I am not surprised about THAT either. birds of a feather.

and that's how you use the quote function, you stupid moron.:pke:

Is "white trash" discriminatory ... even though white people thought it up?

Is "redneck" discriminatory .. even though white people thought it up?

if it is meant to evoke the situation that prompted the phrase's first use - and I believe it is, it certainly is racist.

in 1910, racist white america was desperate to have a white man beat Jack Johnson, the black heavyweight champion. Promoters convinced James Jeffries, a retired former champ to come out of retirement and challenge Jackson. They referred to him as the "Great White Hope". Jeffries said, "I am going into this fight for the sole purpose of proving that a white man is better than a Negro."

Jeffries got his ass kicked.

Thank god we have old timers like you who lived the racism part to tell us how it was. thanks, asshole

Yeah, anything white must be racist.

I'm sick of people like you. You don't have a problem with Black Entertainment Television. Fuck you, hypocrite
Oh, now don't go getting your lily white, man ass in an uproar!

maineman's logic is humorous....he is saying that if obama is "taken down" then the democratic party is defeated......that hilarious, if obama tanks, then the democratic party tanks.....

i'm sure the 6 old white guys and one white woman who lead your party agree with you....

demacrat party leaders = six old white guys and one white woman

where is the diversity, where is the representation?
