Correct, a patchwork of local and state laws is defeated relatively easily. But at least it does have some impact, and if expanded, the impact would be greater. But the truth is, the gun freaks here believe their absolute right to own a weapon that disintegrates flesh and kills as fast as possible trumps anyone elese rights. It is what it is. They don't care about the laws because they don't WANT the laws.

I DID know what I was talking about. The point was and remains that assault weapons are the weapon of choice for school shootings, or pretty much any shooting in which the shooter wants to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible. Period. Full stop.
