The myth of voter fraud

Dune troll obviously not fences to fix today. Like I said only a moron and you are one believes no voter fraud is Possible where it's not even checked for.

Allegations that widespread voter fraud is threatening the integrity of American elections and American democracy itself have intensified since the disputed 2000 presidential election.

The claim that elections are being stolen by illegal immigrants and unscrupulous voter registration activists and vote buyers has been used to persuade the public that voter malfeasance is of greater concern than structural inequities in the ways votes are gathered and tallied, justifying ever tighter restrictions on access to the polls.

Yet, that claim is a myth.

Do you just do chain link or do you fix wood fences to return of legion!

I seldom do repair work, but occasional I restore antique fences. The one on my website in front of the 3 story brick mansion is in front of a building known as "East Brick" on Main Street, Nantucket Mass. It is one of three identical homes built by Captain Starbuck for his three daughers circa 1860.

I re-created the orignal fence in cast iron, which had been donated to the war effort during WWII.
Restoring the home was a $12 million job, naturaly my cost was significantly lower than that.

The best argument against the existence of widespread voter fraud is the fact that the Bush administration spent 5 years trying to find it, and failed:

Five years after the Bush administration began a crackdown on voter fraud, the Justice Department has turned up virtually no evidence of any organized effort to skew federal elections, according to court records and interviews.

Although Republican activists have repeatedly said fraud is so widespread that it has corrupted the political process and, possibly, cost the party election victories, about 120 people have been charged and 86 convicted as of last year.

Most of those charged have been Democrats, voting records show. Many of those charged by the Justice Department appear to have mistakenly filled out registration forms or misunderstood eligibility rules, a review of court records and interviews with prosecutors and defense lawyers show.

In Miami, an assistant United States attorney said many cases there involved what were apparently mistakes by immigrants, not fraud.

In Wisconsin, where prosecutors have lost almost twice as many cases as they won, charges were brought against voters who filled out more than one registration form and felons seemingly unaware that they were barred from voting.

One ex-convict was so unfamiliar with the rules that he provided his prison-issued identification card, stamped “Offender,” when he registered just before voting.

A handful of convictions involved people who voted twice. More than 30 were linked to small vote-buying schemes in which candidates generally in sheriff’s or judge’s races paid voters for their support.

A federal panel, the Election Assistance Commission, reported last year that the pervasiveness of fraud was debatable. That conclusion played down findings of the consultants who said there was little evidence of it across the country, according to a review of the original report by The New York Times that was reported on Wednesday.

The Bush administration was so intent upon finding voter fraud that it fired the US Attorneys whom it believed weren't prosecuting voter fraud diligently enough. And yet, for all of their efforts, they obtained only 86 convictions in 5 years.

There are only two reasonable conclusions to draw from all of this: a) either the Bush DOJ was grossly incompetent or b) there wasn't any widespread voter fraud for them to find. Take your pick.

So unless it's "widespread", there's no reason to worry about it.

Gee, we should remove bank robbery as a crime; seeing as how it's not "widespread".

The left is so desperate that I suspect they'll do all they can to push for allowing felons to vote next year. Expect it.

Backing this up in 2005, the bi-partisan Commission on Federal Election Reform, led by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State Jim Baker, reported that the U.S. Department of Justice had conducted more than 180 investigations into election fraud since 2002. Federal prosecutors had charged 89 individuals and convicted 52 for election-fraud offenses, including falsifying voter-registration information and vote buying. That is why this bi-partisan commission supported laws that require voters to show a photo ID before voting using the Federal Real ID law.

Hummm so back in 2005 a bi-partisan Commission believed after their investigations that voter ID's were a good idea~

And recently~

More voter fraud

The Troy case of voter fraud, which supports this idea: Democrats keeping poor and minority voters without an ID allows them to manipulate and control their votes as in the case of Troy.

Then put a little more effort into explaining yourself; because the only one's bringing up the word "rampant", are those that don't care about voter fraud. :)

What a joke!

As usual, ID is more focused o playing "gotcha" than she is with facts.

The case she linked to concerned forged ballots during the local Working Families Party Primary!

Yeah...another BIGTIME case of RAMPANT voter fraud!
