The President is trapped

tRUMP is an idiot. Even his dad knew it.

When did 47 million people lose their jobs dumbass?

If Democrats are in such good shape, take my bet: https://www.justplainpolitics.com/s...berals-are-strongly-encouraged-to-participate
The federal reserve predicts up to 47 million people losing their jobs, but of course if only 35 million do so, its a win win for your kind.
But then again, handjob has a 16 year old high school drop out neighbor, who says everything will be back to normal by next Tuesday, so why should she ever listen to the words of an expert?

The president will try to blame someone else, but in this case the “someone else” is a virus, not a Mexican immigrant or a reporter with a disability, not a Muslim or a Clinton, not a dead war hero or the family of a fallen soldier. Trump will try to use this crisis to pit one party against the other - but the virus will kill both Republicans and Democrats. He will try to create an alternate story to distract people - but in this case the story is too big and the carnage will be too great for distraction to work.

What do you think? You may or may not approve of Trump's politics, but that's a secondary issue now. What do you think of him as the nation's leader at a time like this?

What a great op-ed, thanks for posting it.

I think we all hope to whatever gods there may be that we get through this as unscathed as possible, despite #COVID-45's best efforts otherwise.

Dont look now but TD (aka trumps manwhore) is close to a big meltdown. It's hilarious watching him unravel . ...lol

I'll take your word for it, but if the sheer number of posts that say "This message is hidden because Truth Detector is on your ignore list" is any indication, you're right! Please report back when he finally snaps; it might be worthwhile taking him off ignore to point and laugh.

I was on Debate Politics for many years. During that time, I never put anyone on "ignore". In fact, CFM became my only "ignore" to date. I only did that because of his extreme racist postings.
That said, TD may be next.
I am fine with folks liking tRUMPS policies, but the constant dropping to their knees-to service their master- gets a bit much sometimes.

CFM is another who's been on the ignore list since the dawn of time.

Trumpanzees would be a lot more interesting (and tolerable) if they could actually defend their master's actions and words with logic and well-sourced opinions. The jumping up and down and screeching of insults is stupid. To be fair, there *are* several righties here who don't deflect to personal attacks and bellowing. They make cogent arguments for their side. Too bad more of them can't come up with something better than "I like him 'cause he's mean and makes your head explode."

I stopped reading at this lie; what a pile of mendacious bile. Why do you read such tripe?

Do you watch Tucker Carlson on Fox News? Not a Rino or a leftist, I think. This is what he makes of Trump's character and abilities - and he has seen him up close.

INTERVIEWER: The Swiss are very suspicious of anybody who is boastful. That's why I have a question about Trump.

CARLSON: I hate that about him. I hate that … it's not my culture. I didn't grow up like that.

INTERVIEWER: Do you think he has kept his promises?

CARLSON: No. His chief promises were that he would build the wall, de-fund planned parenthood, and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn't done any of those things ... I've come to believe that Trump's role is not as a conventional president who promises to get certain things achieved and then does. I don't think he's capable. I don't think he's capable of sustained focus. I don't think he understands the system.

INTERVIEWER: Has he really achieved nothing?

CARLSON: Not much. Much less than he should have. I've come to believe he's not capable of it.

INTERVIEWER: Why should he be not capable?

CARLSON: In order to do it you really have to understand how it works and you have to be very focused on getting it done, and he knows very little about the legislative process, hasn't learned anything, hasn't surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn't done all the things you need to do. It's mostly his fault that he hasn't achieved those things. I'm not in charge of Trump.

So we have a POTUS who is boastful, incapable of sustained focus, doesn't understand the system, hasn't learned anything - also mendacious, untrustworthy etc, but Carlson wasn't asked directly about that - leading the country in what may be its gravest crisis for half a century.

I knew one guy with CFM type extreme racist views. He hated black people with a passion. The reason why was rather comical:

As a youngster, he got into a typical playground "scrape" with another boy who gave him a little "ass whooping". Nothing major, just a butt whooping. The other boy was a black kid. The guy that I knew never got over it.

Sounds about right. In CFM's case, black guys kept taking his girlfriends. They still are.

His blatant racism is disgusting. But in his favor, at least he's open about it. The most insidious and vile racists are the ones who pretend that they're not, while oblivious to the stuff that they say and do that signals loudly to even the dullards that there's a white robe and pointy hat figuratively hanging in their closets. They tell racist jokes and don't even realize how offensive they are, use dog whistles like "thug," while loudly proclaiming how non-bigoted they are.
