The problem of evil

There is no objective evil in a materialistic world.

No "objective" evil, but evil nonetheless. Sorry you had to shift the goalposts so soon.

You would have to have a standard

This actually has already been explained to you on about 1598 individual times on this forum.

For every reason you can think of to spare no expense at treating a handicapped, sickly and terminally ill child, the Spartans, the Nazis, the eugenicists would say it's better off to cull feeble and infirm humans from the gene pool for the overall sake of society.

Yet Christians killed people whose only "defect" was not being Christian. And you write that one off. So your "opinions" on morality are considerably weak.

If you insult your friend without reason and say obnoxious behind his back, that is an unethical act. Call the police?!

Laws are generally made about the most serious moral infractions.

Morality and law are related in this way.

Law is an attempt at enforcing a base level morality for the more serious things.

If you want to understand Christianity, you have to do more than read some quotes from Jesus on a webpage.

Thankfully for me I've read the Bible front to back.

There is no conventional Christian denomination which would advocate that Himmler and Goebbels just be forgiven and allowed to walk away scott free.

Do you need to be reminded of what JESUS said? You remember the Gospels....the things you think are so manifestly important to Western Morality?

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 18-21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

You are free to DENY THE TEACHINGS of Jesus if you like.

Is it moral to beat someone to death? The law says if you are protecting yourself it is legal.
that's a special circumstance.

it is moral in self defense.

is it moral to just murder someone in cold blood and not for self defense?

of course not.

murder is immoral and illegal.

immoral and illegal often overap because they are related.

So, we do not need laws? We do not need police or courts? Maybe you want Trump to decide.

Explain where exactly your standard of objective morality comes from, what it's based on, without invoking opinion, social convention, consensus, or sociological sophistry.

You argue morality can only come from God. Iran believes that. You want that in the US?
