It's just trump trying to cow the world by showing everyone what a "tough guy" he is. My sense is that as soon as Wall Street gets fed up - and that's not long in coming, that trump will back off on the tariffs and "claim victory" by lying that "the world is behaving now because of him".

I mean this is the guy that went bankrupt in the casino business! He's a great marketer and demigod, but he can't run anything successfully.

It appears the real reason he did it is because he's a fucking moron.

Trump thinks he's the smartest man in the room. He thought that the first time and he hasn't changed. If Congress doesn't do something to stop him, it will only get worse.

There will be protests and the odds are good Trump will order, through a MAGA governor, to have police or the National Guard machine gun them down. American men, women and children mowed down in the street. Trump will declare martial law and cancel the midterms. That's when the war at home will be on. Anyone with Trump/MAGA flag, hat, bumper sticker, etc will be an enemy of the Constitution.

I'm surprised the militias support this after 30 years of screaming how they support the Constitution.

I don't know about mowing people down with machine guns.
But it looks like there will be protests and as you say Congress has to step in and stop this crazy bastard.

Wait for it. Trump is crazy. Either the machine guns will be pointed at the American protesters or they will be pointed at Trump and his lackies.

IMO, they'll be pointed at American citizens first and then, like the shock of Kent State, they'll be pointed at Trump and his fellow MAGA morons.

I don't think we can expect pedo Don to really understand corporate business and international markets. His claim to fame is hosting TV reality shows, selling cheap vodka, and hawking overpriced golden sneakers.

Agreed. Let's hope business leaders who fund Congressional election coffers not only know better, but are brave and loud enough to push Congress into action.

I haven't had a Republican representative at the state or congressional district level in 15 years! And I'm not sure if Arnold Schwarzenegger even counts as a Republican any more!

Due to low numbers, the MAGAts have been screaming the end of the Democratic Party is nigh, but Trump is destroying the Republican Party daily. It hasn't even been 100 days yet.

I wonder how much more "winning" Congress, business leaders and other powerful, well-heeled Americans outside the Trump Oligarch can take?

Democrats lost the culture war, that's why they are losing states they used to routinely win: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, Florida.

I think Dems win on economic policy, but they have to figure out how to recapture the working class white vote.

They should focus on the big picture instead of the little one. In short, focus more on economic policies and less on pronouns.

IMO, 2016 was the watershed moment which had been growing for several years. Hillary, as head of the DNC, took the blue-collar white male vote for granted and they finally broke from the DNC. Notice how many unions not only voted for Trump in 2016, but also 2020 and 2024. This seems self-defeating to me, but in a system with two very powerful political parties, it's a matter of choosing the lesser evil.

That will change in 2026 unless Congressional Republicans do something about Trump or Trump declares martial law.
