My brother is an interesting case. He is a Republican, has been his entire life, sort of hard core about it. Once Trump was the nominee, he was SO pro-Trump all the way, but it was mostly because of his hatred for Hillary. In the end all arguments came back to but.. But... But... Hillary. He voted for Trump the first time, and stayed home the second time. He's vaccinated and wore a mask because he is not "dumb as shit", his words.

I think he is the alienated Republican, the Reluctant Trumpper.

The problem is that you cannot argue you're a rugged individualist if the whole first part of your adult life was working a government job that paid you so little you didn't end up having to pay taxes.

It's got nothing to do with disrespect; you said you paid your way by paying taxes on your salary, but you got all those taxes back at the end of the year because of how low your wage was.

Pointing that out is disrespectful, how?
