The Russia Hoax and how Trump sqandered it

Classical Liberal
The Russia Hoax could have been to Trump's advantage but IMO he completely effed it up. Of course hindsight is 20/20 so it's not all his fault.
This thread is open to most on the left even though they believe the Russia Hoax was legit. To me it's black and white. Nothing came of it other than process crimes except for Manafort.

So I'll start the discussion.
Trump should never have fired Comey to let him investigate. Not only was he a complete bumbling incompetent but as he continued his "investigation" would have committed further crimes and he would have simply dug a deeper legal hole for himself. Sessions then could have prosecuted Comey while he was still the FBI director. Perhaps then we could have gotten to the bottom of the illegal spying on trump by those in the Obama admin.

This thread probably should be in the Conservatives Only forum except that I am a liberal.
For the dems and leftists this thread is open to, just saying there was no Russia hoax really doesn't add anything to this (hopeful) discussion (but I know you will).

No "hoax." Sorry if reality offends you.

I admit that trump colluded. I heard him during the campaign say, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.” I would have testified to that in court under oath. Next.

So why do you lie and call it a hoax?

Not relevant to the discussion. But to answer your question the Mueller investigation was a hoax. No need for it. I could've testified as to what I heard Trump say.
How do you think Trump could have handled the Mueller investigation better to enhance his chance of re-election?

Nothing would have changed anyway.

You are correct. Had Comey not been fired and continued with his investigation, nothing would have come of it. I just think Trump would have been better off politically had he let Comey blunder his way thru it.

It doesn't equate to a hoax when a party of peers refuses to convict. It's kind of why they don't allow that in court. Pretty stupid politicians are allowed to police themselves.

You actually think the Mueller investigation effected Trump’s chances for reelection, that it played a role in his defeat last month?

Trump played it perfectly, he orchestrated an “alternative facts” campaign with the right wing media in order to muddle the reality, played the media martyr perfectly, and appointed Barr to frame the report in his favor ahead of its actual release. I would even go so far as to say Trump loved the attention it got him, kept him on top of the media agenda, and allowed him to deflect off of real issues

Not at all. I think Trump handled the whole thing very poorly. Reread the OP. Trump never should have fired Comey from the beginning and let him handle the investigation.

What you just described to me is how Trump squandered a chance for the Russia Hoax to be to his political advantage , instead it hurt him politically. He fucked himself IMO.

There's many other things Trump did to hurt himself politically that are obvious. His stupid tweets and the merry go round of cabinet positions are the most obvious. Not even worth discussing.

"Hoax"

There was nothing fake about Russian interference, but that interference was spreading dis-information, not tinkering with votes.
African-American Obama voters stayed home and let the diseased pigfucking orangutan win.

This time our black brothers and sisters got serious about their job and the pigfucker got trounced, with or without Russian propaganda.

I'm aware of that but thanks anyway. Trump did a great service to the country in preventing HRC from getting elected. His antics during the campaign worked for him but those same antics hurt him. He just couldn't help being an asshole once elected.
So far it looks like I'm wasting my time with this thread. The only replies I get so far is "there was no hoax" from the left which adds nothing to the discussion as I predicted. Those on the right seem unwilling to admit Trump fucked up a golden opportunity as president to further a conservative agenda by acting like an immature asshole.

Hillary could have hardly screwed up this country any worse than tRump has. You only have a skewed presumption of what Hillary might have done. We have the facts that prove the damage that tRump did.

As far a Russia goes, seeing a FULL copy of the Mueller report may well change things significantly.

Hoax? There was never a Hoax. Putin wanted the United States to lose integrity and confidence in Democracy and divide us into a civil war. Putin was looking for a Patsy in Donald Trump to carry it all out. Putin was looking for a sympathizer who would ease US sanctions.

Donald Trump was looking for a way to sell his brand in Russia. So Putin and Trump started sniffing each other's asses and has been doing so for the last 6 years!

The Mueller Investigation documented it all.

This thread is going nowhere without input from the right. It's supposed to be a discussion about how Trump could have handled the Russia Hoax better from the very beginning. Specifically I was hoping anatta would opine.
Well at least we have my one opinion.

And I disagreed with you, stating that Trump not only handled events but actually profited politically off of them

Had he not fired Comey and the FBI continued its investigation Comey wouldn't have been restricted to the parameters that Mueller was confined to in his investigation, he could have explored all kinds of avenues. From his perspective Trump had to fire Comey, his only mistake was pissing off Rosenstein in the process

And as I said, from there, Trump played the Mueller investigation perfectly, creating and promoting all kinds of innuendos and conspiracies that even you yourself are regurgitating here. In the end, politically, none of it hurt Trump, as for his legacy, now that is a different matter
