The Supreme Court faces an existential crisis of legitimacy

I doubt the accuracy of those words ... but I DO THINK that the issue of abortion should be left to the states. Abortion is NOT mentioned in the US Constitution.

I don’t. I think Congress needs to get off their ass and do their job and pass a federal law legitimizing abortion with specific conditions instead of passing the buck to the courts. There are to many States that would make it illegal for any reason and would criminalize women and other States that would legalize for any reason and both would be immoral as hell.

I partially agree with this ... yep, throwing the issue to the courts is megacowardly ... however, your open-ended "specific conditions" is EXACTLY why congress will NEVER agree. Four hundred thirty five folks are going to agree about something ... let us disregard political parties ... it just ain't never gonna happen.

Which is EXACTLY why we have the tenth amendment.

Once the subject of morality comes into the picture ... it's like arguing with someone who just found Jesus ... you're wasting your time.

I left that open ended because that would be up to Congress to determine and arrive at a compromise. Particularly what powers belong to the Feds and which to the States and what specific rights women have on this issue. Even if that’s imperfect it will probably be better than what we currently have. Though I do see your point on trusting Congress to get anything done. It’s going to take considerable political pressure by the public to get something done and even then a whole lot of people ain’t gonna like it.

Agreed. The reason they don't is because they are constantly trying to avoid pissing off their constituents for reelection. This is where election reform would alter the formula. Billions of dollars are thrown at elections. Money is literally buying votes. That's not a democracy, it's ownership.

Post of the Day - so far.

I like the colors you choose.
And that you change them for each sentence.

But do you have to have the text both bold and larger?

After looking at post after post of regular text...it's annoying to my eyes.

Agreed.

But it really is simple.

We know FOR A FACT that sentience can begin at 21 weeks.

Just have a national referendum.

'Should all abortions - short of those necessary for the mother's survival - be illegal before 21 weeks.
Yes or No.'

This gives Congress the excuse to pass a law that says just that.
If their constituents freak?
They can just claim they were following 'the will of the people'.

And if Congress does not follow the results?
I'll put a Japanese Captain into a 747 and do a 'Debt Of Honor' to it.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said it better than any of the court’s external critics. "Will this institution survive the stench this creates in the public perception, that the Constitution and its reading are just political acts?” she asked during oral arguments on Mississippi’s abortion law on Wednesday. “If people believe this is all politics, how will we survive? How will this court survive?”

Every single thing that Donald J. Trump and this MAGA party has touched......has become a worthless pile of dog shit....from the post office, to GOP politicians to the courts....everything he touched turned to shit

How much money have you made from that so far?

Some...but not a heck of a lot.

But if you see the prices I ask (they are as cheap as I can make them)?
Unless I sell a BUNCH of books?
I ain't gonna make much...ever.

I just do it for fun and to get 'things' off of my chest.

I also write fast (but badly).
As confirmed by the dates I posted each book.

Right now I am working on a LONG one (over 900,000 words so far. For comparison? War and Peace was about 600,000 words)...so I have not posted anything in a while.

BTW - if you EVER wanted to publish a book?
It is INCREDIBLY easy.
And costs nothing.

So if you have something to say...give it a whirl?
But if it is controversial?
Do NOT put your name on it.

I'm interested.

What percentage of the 99 cents goes to you?

It's up to you!

Anywhere from 35 to 70%.

And that is MILES more than you will get with a regular publisher.

Of course.
A regular publisher will advertise your book all over the place.
But you basically lose control of it with them.

Here is a page that I used initially to start and it really helped:
https://www.wikihow.com/Publish-a-Book-on-Amazon

It took me about 15 minutes to set up my account with Kindle (Amazon).

And now?
It literally takes me about 5 minutes to post a book online.
But then - my covers are plain. So that makes it MUCH simpler.

If you have any questions?
Just PM me.
I am no expert.
But maybe I can help you with small questions.

get the federal govt out of it. let the voters of each state decide if abortion is legal in their state. Thats what the constitution calls for on issues like this.
