The current tariffs did not result in companies moving to the U. S. but to places like Vietnam that were not subject to the tariffs while still selling those products to the U. S. They resulted in China boycotting American farm products which the government had to pay farmers $42 billion to make up for the loss. They resulted in increased cost to American businesses relying on Chinese materials which made them lose much of their business. They also resulted in an $82 billion tax increase for Americans who had to pay for these tariffs.
