I really kept all of this out of my mind. I didn't really read about the Dylan stuff back in the 90's in detail. The Soon-Yi thing was such a huge scandal. In the end I thought it was very distasteful and disgusting and I blocked it out of my head because there is no filmmaker I appreciate more or run out to see as soon as they release a new film. Reading her first person account in the times just broke through all that for me. Then I went back and read the 1992 Vanity Fair article. In that, I found out to my surprise that Mia's mother was Maureen O'Sullivan. I never knew that. As a kid I used to always really love the old Tarzan movies with O'Sullivan and Weissmuller they reran every Sunday morning/afternoon. That's neither hear or there. Anyway, in the Vanity Fair article I read for the first time that O'Sullivan and her other daughter were somewhere with Allen and watched him applying suntan lotion to a naked 7 yo Dylan, and when his finger went between her buttocks, O'Sullivan grabbed the lotion out of his hand and said to him "stop that, what kind of man do you want to be remembered as by your children".

So it comes down to this: Mia Farrow, her sister, and her mother, Maureen O'Sullivan are all three batshit crazy women who invented stories about Woody Allen and their 7 yo daughter/niece/grandaughter (and never invented these stories about any other man), or...Woody Allen who has shown obsessive behavior over young women all his life and famously had an affair with a 17 yo student when he was 45, became obsessed with and sexually molested his 7 yo adopted daughter.

You really have to work hard to believe one of those scenarios.
 
I liked him at first years ago because he discussed shit others didn't in film.

We have trials because sometimes people lie, even people we want to believe. We ask ourselves "why?" but in reality it doesn't matter why, sometimes people lie and lives are destroyed over it. Sometimes even the allegation is enough, people will believe somebody is bad no matter the outcome.

It matters because we want to protect children and because this is one of the most hideous crime imaginable to most sane people. However, we have a system where evidence is necessary and that understands that sometimes people lie, even about this.

Yeah, people lie.

The problem here is, you have a guy as an established fact took pornographic pictures of his girlfriend's teenaged daughter, naked, with her legs spread. These photographs were found, no one denies this. He later said he had no fatherly relationship with her (Soon-Yi) or Mia's other adopted children. The other adopted children have stated on record they were shocked by this, because he did play the role of stepfather and stopped talking to him.

And again, three women who never accused any other man of this, stated that his behavior was inappropriately sexual with the 7 yo Dylan. And Mia's mother, Maureen O'Sullivan and her sister, both say the witnessed him applying lotion to the naked child and then slip his finger between her buttocks.

Allen employed an entire floor of a law firm to fight the custody battle, and twice he lost. He was denied any custody of Dylan.

At some point, come on. Just come on. Like I said, there is one side of this that you have to work really hard to believe.
 
I should make it clear, in no way should my remarks be construed that I think Woody Allen is "innocent". Only that this line of "why would they lie" can not be used as evidence and it is a silly question to begin with. Some people lie, even if you really want to believe them, and even if you can't figure out why they lie.

Why? Because people do lie, even about this.
 
He also said regarding Soon-Yi that he felt there was no moral dilemma in his sexual relationship with her. That the fact that she was his girlfriend's stepdaughter was a fact with no import. Let's say you are involved with a woman, and let's even say you never actually were a step father to the girl you knew since she was a child ( I don't believe that in this instance for a minute, but hypothetically best case scenerio), and you begin a sexual relationship with your long time girlfriend's teenage daughter..

can any man here really say that this is not a moral dilemma and that it is a fact with no import?

I think that the statements this guy has made about the affair with Soon Yi alone show that he simply has no moral compass at all.

I would think that if this happened to any normal human being it would cause a moral dilemma.

I'd like any man here to be able to state they could fuck their gf's teenaged daughter and feel that it was not a morally bad situation that caused them a tremendous amount of guilt and torment. I think Allen's known actions that are not in dispute speak very loudly.

You have to be bat shit crazy to think Woody Allen is innocent. The only reason he wasn't convicted is because of WHO he was back when this occurred. While the statute of limitations may have run out, people can be reminded over and over and over again what a piece of shit he is. They can choose not to watch his movies. They can choose to not support those that act in his movies. There is much that they can still do to hammer this piece of shit into the dirt where he belongs.

Yes, but three women never known to have accused any other man of this their entire lives (and O'Sullivan is dead now so we can't say well maybe someday she will), against one man who has admitted to taking naked, and highly pornographic photos of one of his gf's teenaged daughters...well, boy you have to really stretch to say this is a he said she said. I think it goes far beyond that.
