I know liberals love to hate on "big oil", but this proposal will send an already unstable economy to the bottom!

In Washington, Congress will debate a budget for 2010 that contains a dire threat to our nation’s economy and energy security. The Administration is proposing at least $400 billion in new taxes on the oil and natural gas industry, which would result in:

American Job Losses—an estimated 270,000 American jobs would be lost.

Higher Prices—Historically, higher taxes have resulted in less supply and higher energy costs for consumers, and in today’s economy, that could stifle our recovery.

Greater Dependence on Imports—New taxes on American oil and natural gas companies would hurt domestic energy exploration and development programs and increase our dependence on foreign oil and natural gas.

Higher energy costs promote alternatives.
Which will reduce our dependence on imported oil.
This is an unfortunate fact of human nature.
 
but the republicans are showing themselves to be as big a wuss as the dems were.
Don't expect much of a fight from the cons on this one.
Higher gasoline prices for all, enjoy the $2 gal. Obama will make that a distant memory. Hey GED what alternatives have you filled up your overpiced tin can with lately.

Overpriced tin can?

I have an old pickup booking for around $2,500.
And a newer one my farm hand drives worth maybe $7,500 and a newer chairlift equipped van which is worth about 8k.
I do not waste money on vehicular status.
Old vehicles = lower taxes.

My gas bill for last month for myself and my farm was about $150.

My business now is another matter. More gas used there, probably around $500 last month, I have not figured that out yet. And 3 pretty new vehicles for it.

Giving them great tax rates under Bush crashed our economy.

They made record profits and we got two failed wars and a failing economy.

It doesnt seem like it will matter too much huh?

Don't forget lower taxes started two wars as well. In fact a little known secret is Obama ecomically supports big government/taxes and it was Bush's tax cuts that so angered him as to go after the twin towers and the U.S. Word is had we not cut taxes we would not have gone after the Taliban in Afghanistan post 9/11 as well.

The tax cuts just had an ugly domino effect on U.S. History.

and lower tax cuts made people believe the could afford mtgs that they really couldn't afford....made them all take out lots and lots of credit too
