I really don't think that many people display their best side online during these things. On twitter I have seen righties talking about killing all the Muslims, and because I see many more lefties in my feed, I have seen smug lefties retweet comments like "do americans get that this happens in Iraq/Afghanistan every DAY". I have had to unfollow a couple of lefties because they inflamed me and I do not like to go off and call them stupid smug douchebags. I mean, like I need to be lectured by them? I bet you anything I donate more every single month to organizations that feed and give medicine to third world countries, than they do every year. But retweeting something really makes you better than everyone else. Can a person have one day to feel heartbroken about the tragedy in Boston without that crap? Apparently not.
So basically I personally feel that everyone online sucks, and people should take a one or two day sabbatical from the internet whenever something like this happens. Because whether you are screaming about annihilating the Muslims or lecturing Americans about how they can't get too upset about this because after all someone died in Iraq today, you look like a damn fool.
