Ok taken away every loophole and deduction and make people pay taxes based on their gross or net income. You choose but EVERYBODY must pay taxes.

Modern societies not founded on unadulterated exploitation of the poor use a progressive tax system which makes the poor pay less. But I generally agree we should simplify the tax code and eliminate a lot of the loopholes.

I think there's still a lot of room in America for the ultrawealthy to be ultrawealthy and still pay a high rate of taxes. Some of us (like me) grew up in the 60's and 70's when our parents (fathers who made good on the GI bill and got a leg up and got into a good job after the War) were able to give us a REALLY GOOD LIFE on one income! And at that time the top marginal tax rates were sky high and AMerica THRIVED.

Tariffs just raise prices on foreign goods by taxing American importers. Trump's tariffs were a flop. Manufacturers just moved to places like Vietnam that didn't owe tariffs. Retaliation resulted in losses to American businesses like farmers which the government paid $42 billion for their losses. It did not result in businesses moving to the U. S.
