McConnell is a good guess. It was probably his idea to do all the judges. He simply would not hold hearings for Obama nominations, so empty slots kept piling up. McConnell was biding his time hoping for a Republican president, which he got with Trump. Then he probably slid all the recommendations in front of Trump which Trump didn't care about but signed just to take credit. Merrick Garland for SCOTUS was only one of many many Obama nominees who did not get a hearing.

Very dirty politics.

Republicans tend to work solely for their party power as they screw the USA. They accuse Democrats of the same thing, but it's not really true.

We need to fix that. One of the worst things ever created in the USA was the concept of an LLC.

That allows all kinds of crimes to be committed in the name of the corporation, but nobody is ever held accountable. The corporation may pay a small fine which is regarded as the price of doing business, and then it's back to the same old tricks. Very disgusting. Why Republican voters support this kind of thing is bewildering. A stronger government would be able to properly regulate the corporations, but because of RW propaganda, Republican voters fear the government more than the corporations.

Demanding some type of unflattering appeasement. That does nothing to unite America, nothing for the person making the unreasonable demand, and nothing for the person being asked to perform a meaningless gesture. It is a completely nonproductive act with no redeeming qualities that serves no purpose for creating a better American future. Hence, it is short-sided.

Both parties, as far as I am aware, have played along.......

A corporation has the status & rights of an actual citizen/person & has been since 1886.........

I think originally there was a time limit/renewal & accounting for public good...

Now while enjoying the rights of the rest of us, including free speech aka known as moneythey none the less are not held to the same account as the rest of us.....

Ford Pinto?? Just recently PG&E negligence caused entire towns burning down & many deaths.. None of those that made the decisions to put money before human lives/safety are going to prison..

If you & I made decisions: we can make $XXX more money for merely an extra XXX in accidental deaths we would be diagnosed as sociopaths or worse....

That is what that decision in 1886 unleashed on our civilization......... & it can be clearly seen in the deference in how consumer safely & advocacy is done in the EU as opposed to the corporate ruled system of protection ran here by & for them......

Yeah, that kind of thing makes no sense. No wonder corporations have become so powerful.

And while both parties are complicit to an extent, it is well known that the Republican party is the most subservient to big corporate power. Right now, Congress is trying to hammer out the details on a new aid package. The sticking point is how to grant corporations immunity from liability in endangering workers. The Republican Party wants total immunity from any and all liabilities in placing workers in harm's way. The Democratic Party is trying to get a better deal for workers.

That should let anyone know which party is in the pocket of corporate power.

Most Americans want to keep America, want to keep on being Americans. We don't want to break up the nation nor become citizens of deadly opposed less powerful smaller nations. The people you are talking about are Americans. Our challenge is not how to divide the nation but to unite it.

Most of America should not want to "unite" with Fascists, White Supremacists, Trump cult members, domestic terrorists and all in all, racist, bigots and morons who prefer a dictator and an authoritarian form of government. They get lots of money from corps, LOTS, often more than the gop..........

I have heard the trying line far to often........ I don't care what their implied or stated "good intentions" are......

After the Trump election I went on FB and asked a couple of old Political Groove posters and ALTHEA from DCJ (etc.)
if they wanted to cooperate for the common good.

They literally laughed, and banned me from the group.
That's when I knew Screaming at the Sky was a real thing for these fruitcakes.

And I have heard talk of a third 'better' party for years. I'd love to see it. Where is it?

That would required lots of people to think for themselves. Big problem. People don't do that.

Reality is you go with one of the parties you have, not the party you wish you had, or you have no political power.
