Top 15 cities with the highest homeless population

Warm weather?

A common link but the NY and MA locations are cold. Also, no FL. More likely, it's the "liberal" policies.

No teams of white supremacists roaming the streets setting hobos on fire, dumping bodies into garbage trucks and laws against feeding the homeless. ;)

Anybody notice a pattern here?

Yeah, the largest state in the nation has the highest overall population of every category of people.

Ergo, it stands to reason that it would also have the highest population of any and all sub groups.

It probably also has the highest population of multimillionaires..

Highest population of computer programmers.

Highest population high school graduates.

Highest population of police officers.

Highest population of hospital employees.

Highest population of fast food workers.

Etc., etc.

You're not wrong so in that case we could look at percentages. California is 12% of the country's population but has almost 30% of the country's homeless population.

If you have the most fucking people, you'll probably have the most fucking homeless people too.
They should present it as a percentage of the population.

Care to take bets where the highest percentage of homeless people reside? ;)

DC, New York, Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington...and Massachusetts.

Because homeless people from other parts of the country gravitate there.

If you're homeless in the midwest and can afford a bus ticket to somewhere else, California is the logical choice.

Agreeable weather and a strong social services network.

That's a very small portion of the homeless here. Most of the homeless were already here.

Individual cities are not states. There are many other cities much larger than Santa Cruz, Salinas, San Luis Obispo, San Jose, Stockton and Turlock.

This is from a couple of years ago but nonetheless...

Myth #1: California’s homeless are from somewhere else -- and moved here for the mild weather and social services.

Reality: Experts say this is one of the most common and inaccurate assumptions about homeless Californians.

Fair enough.

But also in fairness, the fault does not lie exclusively with the "lib'rul" policies of the state's government either, as was the presumptive suggestion of the thread title.

They blame higher rents, evictions, illnesses and other dramatic life events for driving people onto the streets.

"In my case, I lost my husband," added Backus, a former stay-at-home mom before she eventually became homeless.

Evidence referenced in above post suggests it is not exclusively about liberal government policies.

Miami, New Orleans, Mobile, Houston, Tampa, Jacksonville, warm weather cities, all have white supremacists roaming the streets? Wow. I learned something new. Good thing I come to this site.

I never mentioned anything about liberal policies. I just posted the top 15 cities with homeless populations. Personally I think it’s a very appealing characteristic of these places. Adds much needed diversity.

No doubt that's exactly how you'll tell it to your WP terrorist friends on Parler. LOL

My Washington Post terrorist friends? On Parler? 1. I have no subscription to WP. Hate it when you freaks post a link to that.
2. The correct spelling is parlor.

The common perception is that the higher density a human population becomes, the more liberal the policies. Since cities are high density population areas then they are Liberal.

I agree that population density increases liberal policies. My guess is because there's so many interactions with people. In the country, a person can go for a week or two and not see someone. A neighbor, doctor, store clerk.

With liberal policies come those who take advantage of them. In this case the homeless.

Liberal policies don't cause homelessness, they attract it. Otherwise I'd have to be running vagrants off every once in awhile.

The chronically homeless are mentally ill. Our nation is failing to take proper care of it's weakest citizens.

Those southeastern, Gulf region cities get very uncomfortably hot and humid for much of the year, a climate that certain types of insects, like mosquitoes and cockroaches find hospitable.

Something that one could assume people who live outdoors might take into consideration.
