Putin orders national mask mandate in Russia as coronavirus spikes in second wave
We might, I’ve always thought it was a strong possibility.

Putin has his own problems and is a politician - now tell me how masks stop the spread of COVID?
Oh that's right -you can't
You’re so nice, I just think my family is grossly misinformed by Fox and OAN.Let's be honest: all intelligent, sane Republicans know Trump is a fucking moron. So why would so many Republicans support Trump up to this point? Why isn't this election a blowout as some predicted? Both sides on JPP predicted one. So why didn't it happen?
My first guess is that both parties are underestimating the concerns and values of 70% of American voters.
Best wishes for a safe holiday season to all. My family has similar issues.
There's a strong desire among Americans to return to normality, but ignoring reality isn't the best way to get there.
Agreed on both points! You’re so nice, I just think my family is grossly misinformed by Fox and OAN.
I’ve always said that cable news is for entertainment.Agreed on both points!
Agreed on Fox. Fox has turned misinformation* into an art form for profit. They've mastered the art and skill of riding a red wave for money. Before Trump, it was just Fox following the Republicans but after Trump, Fox found itself of being in a de facto White House Counselor position.
That was the good news. The bad news is that both CNN and MSNBC are following Fox with misinformation for profit by riding a blue wave.
*Misinformation can take many forms. In this case, it's "information" geared to extracting profit from their customers. They will give whatever their customers want and, sometimes, push what their customers should think, feel and do.
So far, tests are negative but that doesn't mean it will stay that way. I'm kind of depressed that Christmas may be on the down-low this season for much of the country. Stores even got wise and spread out Black Friday.
My wife is feeling that way too; her sister is going through chemo and has been worried about her due to COVID exposure since the sister's immune system is reduced. There's a lot of relatives in the area and they want to see the Aunt for Thanksgiving "because it might be her last". Me, being a funny pragmatist, said "if she (the sister) catches COVID from one of the kids, it will be her last."
My suggestion was to use tech. Kids are having birthdays by having all of their friends drive-by in a car and exchanging waves and shouts. Zoom is big, but Facetime works great too. Find a way to make it work without risking killing off several family members (through Six Degrees of Separation).

Hello Dutch Uncle,
COVID fatigue is inevitable.
This is a tricky war.
The humans against the bug.
So far the bug is winning.
I’ve always said that cable news is for entertainment.
Such efforts must be weighed; the inconvenience vs. the desire to see relatives. I expect it's not the same for everybody.Hello Dutch Uncle,
We, and the chosen family members we intend to visit for Thanksgiving, area all in self-imposed isolation just so we can have this visit. We see nobody else, maintain as little social contact as possible, mostly just to get food.
If Trump prevails the press will continue to wail and gnash teeth over every "case" despite the rather low lack of anything serious happening.
If Biden prevails the press will start reporting the things they have ignored and it will cease to be "a thing".
