Trump wanted to use the ambassador as his business agent. That is not in the job description. Trump has always filtered the actions of the government through his profiting.

It was at Turnberry 4 times. The last was 2009. However, it is set for other courses for the next 2 years. I read there are 10 on the list. It is at Royal St, George in 2021 and St Andrews in 2022. The list was changed due to Corona. There was a longer list with no Turnberry on it.
Golf Digest did an article saying the Trump ambassador did bring it up, but the British ambassador said it would be improper for him to discuss it or bring it up to Brit Golf. Trump does not care about proper.

Yeah, I was just flipping through the list on Wiki. Apparently it was at nine, and then they added the course from Northern Ireland last year.

You honestly cannot understand the difference? really? Trump was making a personal profit off the Open. Obama would not profit off of the Olympics. It is considered a huge boon to cities involved and the prestige of the government. Try a little.
