The Democrats are undemocratic. They preselect their Presidential nominees 12 years out. Trump wanted to run as a Democrat but the DNC oligarchy had already promised the nomination to Hillary and Biden (in that order). Trump had no choice but to run as a Republican and clean house on that side, before cleaning house on the Democrat side.
