Trump tariffs create budget surplus

FoulWoman hates me because I see through her lies. Like her husband had 15% ejection fraction and a medical doctor said he was capable of work. A 15% EF is end stage cardiac disease and people with that severe cardiac dysfunction are generally wheeler chair bound because walking across the room is too taxing for them. I'm not suggesting that at some point Mr. Owl may have had a 15% EF just that ANY DOCTOR told him he was capable of work when he had a documented EF of 15%. That is absurd.

I wouldn't say never. It would take Billions to build the infrastructure needed , and a lot of the jobs they bring back will be done by AI and robots , and American wages will have to come down in order to complete on the world market and I don't see that happening, Americans aren't going to work for 5 dollars an hour any more.
American producers are more innovative and efficient. When given a level playing field they will be more competitive. Yes robotics are part of that but someone has to service them and build them . Robotics are great for things like welding and painting in the car industry. The product is a more consistent higher quality product. Yes AI is part of what will help Americans produce better products at competitive prices but AI chip manufacturing will be done in the US to keep our competitive edge.

It appears the Party of Trump is more interested in pocketing money from US taxpayers than investing it in the nation.

Wait... I was told he "chickened out" because he "always chickens out"... How can we make money on tariffs if they've never started because he "always chickens out"?
It goes to credibility. A US President who constantly threatens something, such as tariffs, then "always chickens out", soon loses credibility. That why the US stock market stabilized after the first several times Trump did this. It's also why other global leaders, even from relatively minor nations, know all they have to do is string him along and wait until he loses interest and moves to something else...like Rosie O'Donnell. LOL

And all this will be done using AI and automation.
There are not going to be all these jobs you MAGAS keep saying are going to be created.
And it has been being done for over 50 years now.

lol. Which again... begs the question. How can we possibly be making money from tariffs he "chickened out" on... Or... Hear me out... It is possible that he does not "always chicken out" and that tariffs have been put in place...

Things that make you go, "Hmmmmmmm...." (Unless you are leftist, of course).

Those kinds of manufacturing jobs will never return here. That is just another right-wing dingbat fantasy.

Agree. Capitalism exists to make money. Corporations are not going to invest in making products that -- even with tariffs -- can still be imported and purchased for less than what they can be made for here. I like my jeans example because it also illustrates another thing about why tariffs won't work. Jeans, of course, are made out of woven fabric. We have few, if any, textile manufacturers left in the U.S. So to tool up an American jeans-making factory is going to also require a denim-making textile factory. Where do the materials -- plastics (polyester), cotton, etc. come from? Not here. So there's another issue. You can use just about any product for an example. Televisions. Shoes. Cell phones.

IDK. Are we making money? You take the word of Trump's sycophants but I'd love to see the actual numbers.

If the budget surpluses last longer than a month, I'll be among those applauding despite Trump signing a bill that increases the national debt by $3.4T. We, the People, could certainly need the money to pay off debt instead of just kicking the can down the road for your children to pay off.

True. Tariffs are only helpful to protect a country's own manufacturers when those manufacturers exist.

It should be interesting, assuming that TACO doesn't kick the tariffs down the road 10 more times, to see if certain sectors of manufacturing actually return to the U.S. Like shoes, appliances, clothing, electronics, plastics, home goods, OTC drugs, etc. Even with tariffs in place, all those things are going to cost a LOT more because 1) building or retooling factories and installing robotics is very expensive, and 2) American labor costs much more than Vietnamese, Pakistan, or Mexico's. Will the solution to that be doing what we're doing now -- looking the other way and pretending not to see the undocumented workers working and earning less than minimum wage? Even with tariffs making those items more expensive, American-made similar items will still cost even more.
trump knows nothing about tariffs, or the economy. If he's going to continue to play his game, he's admitting that prices are too low. No matter what happens, they are going to go up and stay up. The question is whether or not people want to pay American labor ten times as much as taxed overseas labor?

There are also enviro issues that will keep corps. from coming here. Whereas trump will do away with them, future sane administrations will reimplement them.

IF he was interested in bringing manufacturing here, he would be using the billions in tariff money that consumers have been paying to build factories. Instead, he's funding tax cuts, CEO pay, and dividend hikes.

His tariff game is all political theater. His dementia is getting worse.

We haven't "made money on tariffs," and likely won't. Why are MAGATs okay with a "tax" on things you buy?
If it was on the up and up, why not publish all of the data? The deals?

Again, as I posted to @Damocles, I really do hope it works. Our nation is swimming in debt and Trump's BBB is just adding more weight. If the tariffs work, great!

OTOH, since Trump bullshits more than any president in living memory and since his entire cabinet was handpicked to pledge fealty to him, not the Constitution, I'm not confident We, the People, are being told the truth.
