A sharp exchange of statements over the weekend has heightened concerns in Mexico that Donald Trump may push for a US military presence in its territory to fight drug trafficking.

The Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, sought to defuse the situation in her daily press conference on Monday, emphasising that communication between the two leaders had been “very good” so far.

Its about time. The Cartels are nothing but terror groups and should be treated as such. Drone their asses from top to bottom. Destroy them and their camps. Blow them all to hell . Send Delta in to rip those bastards right out of their beds in the middle of the night and drag them off to Guantanamo. Its where they belong,....either dead or in prison.

Are you aware that we have destroyed many cartels and jailed many, many drug runners? Let's keep doing what we have done since Nixon started it. It has worked so well. There are huge profits in drugs. Someone will find a way to supply them. We have jailed millions for drug charges. How is it working?
Of course, like Trump, you believe international borders are just lines on maps that can be ignored. Ask the country whose borders are being crossed.
How do you deal with innocent people killed and property being wrecked? Do we set up funds to pay for the destruction of innocent people's property and restitution for killing their citizens?

We would probably be happy if they were people selling illicit drugs to people that kills them, people who engage in human and child trafficking and every other corruption you can think of. The cartels need to be blown away.

You may not be able to understand how stupid that response was. Would we allow Mexico to attack our territory to kill drug runners and attack cartels? Can you even get a scent of how horrible and complicated that would be? The entire idea is insane.

How about instead the people in the US selling and trading Mexicans the guns that are sent in massive amounts from the US in to Mexico?

If the US would control their border and stop that gun flow, that would greatly diminish the stength of the gang and take away a key way to pay for the drugs.

So since the US cannot and will not control the gun flow, do you think the US gov't would support Mexico drone striking gun runners, and the Gun Shops supplying them illegally, out the back door?

I could care less what mexico thinks. The cartels must go...we have the ability to bring them justice...tine to do just that
 
TIme to start throwing ropes over trees , hanging cartel members and puttibg it on live tv. Make it required veiwing in schools....see kids,...this is what happens to those who go against our laws.

I'm not OK with even one drug overdose from Mexican drugs but American drugs are just as much of a scourge.

Historically, reducing the supply of Mexico-produced heroin and methamphetamine and the northbound flow of South American cocaine were the primary goals of U.S. counternarcotics policy toward Mexico. Around 2019, Mexico reportedly replaced the People's Republic of China (PRC, or China) as the primary source of U.S.-bound illicit fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, and fentanyl analogues.....
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that synthetic opioids (primarily fentanyl-related substances) may have resulted in more than 61,800 U.S. overdose deaths between August 2023 and July 2024.
