ya Trump did not really do anything but expose how empty and fraudulent big religion has become. Not that it was not prior, but Trump just tore off the veil.

Big religion is just a tax based grift that is transforming into a Political PAC.

Please explain the difference between "big religion" and lesser religions.

Please explain the difference between "big religion" and lesser religions.

Agreed there are organizations, including religions, which specialize in pulling money out of the pockets of Americans. Like Trump, usually those who can least afford it.

The 'big religions' are all known to me and thus i can speak to their grift and culpibility, more broadly and easily.

The lesser religions or even how they would be defined (look like about 1000+), as a religion or not, and who gets to decide, are not as known to me, and thus i won't speak to them all, with that same broad brush.

I do not attempt to define who and what they are (lesser religions) as i do not know them well, and many, not at all. The responsible thing to do is not try to define them if you do not know. So that is why i carve out the lesser religions from my more general statements on the major religions, all of which i have studied during theology studies, in Uni, and in my personal time.

I always find it interesting that those who least care about the Bible itself are so much more offended by something like this than those who care.the most.

It's like watching someone get offended on the behalf of some group who isn't offended themselves.

Oh, no, not at all. You questions focus on big religions was not at all clear to me, the way it was worded. I thought you were asking why i was giving smaller religions a pass.

I don't know how deep you want to go on that question. At a high level the large religions evolved to serve largely as proxy structures to create power structures for those who had no access to power via birthright.

If you were not born in to the Royal family lines, you had very little access to power, beyond being a key servant.

Big religions helped create rival structures, had their own ability to tax the citizens (tithing), had standing armies or the ability to rally armies, and put up National or INternational leaders (Pope, etc) who could often hold more sway and power then a countries King or leadership. They often negotiated with Kings and Leadership as equals and were behind the toppling or stability of many of them.

The way they accrue this power was via creating a cult and atmosphere of persuasion and allegiance to make all the sheep (flock) fall in line behind fairy tales and made up stories, that gave false answers to questions that perplexed and troubled the masses (why does the volcano erupt? what happens when we die?, etc).

I do not think anyone would read that question and see it as really wanting an explanation about 'big religion' and NOT lesser religions, when BOTH were specified. And i did not say it was unclear. I said it was 'not clear to me'. Those are very different.

"Big religions" certainly must include any tradition with over 100 million adherents. The premise seems to be that Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, traditional Chinese religion are typified by corruption and deceit.
