Trumps Personality, a response to thing1

"The reality is that being President of the United States is probably the most unique job in the entire world." DT #53

I suspect space explorer, or deep sea explorer, or several other one-of-a-kind jobs may be.
There are a variety of heads of State, all with similar duties. Angela Merkel comes to mind.

The president is merely CEO of the USA. CEO's are a dime a dozen.

"There is ZERO that can prepare you for it. ZERO" DT #53

I disagree.
Obama got useful insight into how the law in general and the Constitution work, from Harvard Law School.
He got further insight into how government works from both the Illinois and the U.S. federal legislatures.

BUT !!

Those are legislative positions. And the presidency is an executive office.

BUT !!

So are our 50 State governorships.
So being governor of a State for a while might well provide some executive experience, though that's a mixed bag.

Governor Clinton was an extremely successful president, and did well by the United States of America.

Governor Bush was a below average president, and left us far worse off after his 8 year administration than when he was inaugurated.

Why did you vote for him lol?

The delusion lies in denying Trump's obvious leadership abilities. He single handedly started a movement while having the whole establishment deck stacked against him. Few have the political balls to even attempt such a thing and Trump pulled it off in an upset, which was arguably historic.

Obama on the other hand, had instant adulation from the media. If for no other reason he was the first serious black contender for president. To this day, much of the establishment media won't go after the first black president. But Obama's oratory skills can be pretty formidable, so he checks that box for leadership qualities.

Other than that, I'm not sure why people expected much out of his presidency.

Trump is a 2-bit con man. I don't expect the conned to see that.

It's ridiculous to say that Obama was only elected because he was black. At least you mention his skills as an orator - to me & to many, he was the best speaker we have had in modern times. And that's not a small thing (I realize some righties like to marginalize him as just a "good speech"). Speaking is a huge part of the job; in many ways, it's the most important part of the job. After Bush, it was exciting to have someone who was so well-spoken, thoughtful and intelligent.

Even though I didn't vote for him in 2012, I'd hardly call his Presidency a disappointment. People have genuinely forgotten what things were like when he took office. I think we'll be lucky in 4 or 8 years if things improve as much under Trump.

at least you know he will be awake for his 4 am phone call :)

I love that everything is on twitter. It will be a very interactive presidency.

I can't wait until he feels insulted by a world leader. We'll see how this thin-skinned, pathologically lying juvenile reacts.

Barry had absolutely no executive experience when he became president, so he had considerable more growing experience than Trump has ahead of him lol.

Trump has that experience, plus he prides himself on being able to make deals; which, should translate into making bipartisan deals with congress. Which, granted, could be a worry for conservatives like myself. Instead of checking out and shutting down over their ideological sensitivities, I would encourage the NeverTrumpRumpers to stay engaged to keep him from wondering too far off the reservation.

But without question, Trump has presidential qualifications. His leadership ability alone puts him head and shoulders above any of his competitors in the primary or general elections.

This is why Trump won't grow into the job. From Tony Schwartz, who wrote "Art of the Deal" for Trump.

"If he were writing “The Art of the Deal” today, Schwartz said, it would be a very different book with a very different title. Asked what he would call it, he answered, “The Sociopath.”

But the discussion was soon hobbled by what Schwartz regards as one of Trump’s most essential characteristics: “He has no attention span.”

it’s impossible to keep him focussed on any topic, other than his own self-aggrandizement, for more than a few minutes,

"Trump’s short attention span has left him with “a stunning level of superficial knowledge and plain ignorance.”

Yep, Aspergers.

"Trump is a 2-bit con man." T1 #63

I disagree.
I think Trump is a crook, famous for not paying those hired to work on his properties. How many dozens, or hundreds of law suits has Trump had, or now has pending?

And I think Trump is a WORLD CLASS con man. He conned the U.S. electorate to put him in the White House.

Obama "was the best speaker we have had in modern times." T1 #63

By what criterion?

I think President Clinton was probably the best, though some might say it was Reagan, aka "the great communicator".

Some Clinton speeches were brilliantly shrewd.

But Reagan's style was popular, even if not with me.

"I think it's somewhat ironic uh to see uh some members of congress wanting to make common cause with hard-liners in Iran." U.S. President Obama 15/03/09

"... if you look at the number of Americans killed since nine eleven by terrorism, it's less than a hundred. Ahm. If you look at the number that have been killed by, um, gun violence, it's in the tens of thousands." President of the United States of America Barack H. Obama

"So every CEO in America, let me repeat:
If you want somebody who's going to get the job done, and done right, hire a veteran." Barack Hussein Obama Jan. 20, 2015

"Congress passed the Affordable Health Care Act to improve health insurance markets, not to destroy them." Chief Justice John Roberts commenting on Obamacare 15/06/25

"They would have us borrow $700 $Billion $Dollars over the next ten years, to give a tax cut of about a $hundred $thousand $dollars each to folks who are already $millionaires." U.S. President Obama 2010

“I want to be clear: The differences between our governments over these many years are real and they are important. I’m sure President Castro would say the same thing -- I know, because I’ve heard him address those differences at length. But before I discuss those issues, we also need to recognize how much we share. ...

When I first started school, we were still struggling to desegregate schools across the American South. But people organized; they protested; they debated these issues; they challenged government officials. And because of those protests, and because of those debates, and because of popular mobilization, I’m able to stand here today as an African-American and as President of the United States. That was because of the freedoms that were afforded in the United States that we were able to bring about change.” U.S. President Obama directly addressing the people of Cuba 16/03/22

https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2016/03/22/remarks-president-obama-people-cuba

Obama also said: “I have come here to bury the last remnant of the Cold War in the Americas. (Applause) I have come here to extend the hand of friendship to the Cuban people.” (Applause)

Once again, you demonstrate your inability to be objective about Trump. Instead of conceding that he has good leadership qualities as demonstrated by the ability to coalesce a successful movement and gain the WH, you smear his followers as gullibles who suffer a mass delusion.

You might as well go all the way and call them Deplorables.

Worse yet, you don't apply the same reasoning to Obama and/or his followers who fell for the Hope and Change con.

The ground shifts under our feet a bit on that.

There were some things acceptable in the 1950's that aren't now, and vice versa.

It's probably an error to say U.S. government is a-ethical. I'd say it's Machiavellian.
Use the quote feature ffs!!

I am objective about Trump. He is a proven con man - I say that objectively.

"Hope & change" was Obama's theme, but he campaigned on policy, and followed through - whether you like that policy or not.

Unless Schwartz has spent significant time alone with Trump, it's fair to say his summation is both superficial and plainly ignorant lol.

Though I'm sure it plays well with the snowflakes.

No, it's not.

It is, in fact, RACIST.

Hmmmm, its 'waycist' eh? What race is Ms. Warren? What race was/is Pocahauntus?

Why is it 'waycist' to mock a liar who falsely claimed she had specific ancestry to gain an advantage when in fact: she did not have said ancestry?

Me thinks yer an extra stupid Liberal/Progressive/Marxist/Statist/Fascist fool who is stuck on stupid n' loves to label those with whom you disagree.

pffffffffffffffffffffffft... a wee bit o green house gas... breathe deep, it will help yer malodorous breath... burp...

You did it again lol.

MAGA isn't policy. Getting rid of NAFTA is a policy. Building a wall is policy.
