Trump’s Right: New Year’s Eve May Be The Coldest On Record

I went all the way through university studying pure chemistry with some atmospheric chemistry and physics thrown in but never attained the doctorate level of understanding you obviously possess. They taught me the Arrhenius equation, IR bending and stretching of CO2 and the absorption frequencies along with water vapour, methane etc. but learning about weather and climate was far too advanced.

I have noticed over the years that you never discuss or even divulge your own level of academic attainment. I am sure that is out of embarrassment more than anything, it is certainly not modesty that's for sure.

Hmmmmm.....that didn't address at all what you wrote in the OP.

If you have that background, you should know that talking about the difference between climate & weather is not the "usual BS," at minimum.

I suspect you regret posting that, because you're just trying to distract now.

Holy crap, let me dumb this down for you. I meant that whenever an extreme event like hurricanes or hot weather occurs there is always some arsehole(s) to say it is connected to global warming. It was said about the Californian droughts, hurricane Sandy, the Syrian war and many more besides. Yet when extreme cold occurs it is just weather. I was actually attempting to ridicule people that say that but it was obviously way too subtle for you.

I have said many times that I'm a lukewarmer, there is an anthropogenic signal but likely to be a weak one. Far too little attention is paid to natural variations like the PDO/ENSO, AMO, Milankovitch cycles, cosmic rays and clouds. There is also the recently discovered effect of the Sun's magnetic field as well, all of these are poorly understood and not even modelled for the most part.

"you'll get the usual bullshit about the difference between climate and weather, that's to be expected"

Seems clear as day to me.
Sorry matey, it's New Years Eve and I've got far better things to do than argue with a halfwit. I drink a pint for you and hope you improve your debating skills in 2018.

Looks like you can never get anything right, polar bears are doing fine and their numbers are increasing.

Amazing what HUNTING RESTRICTIONS will do, huh?

Status of the polar bear populations
Last updated 2017 with data from the IUCN Polar Bear Specialists Group

1 population was in decline
2 populations were increasing
7 populations were stable
9 populations were data-deficient (information missing or outdated)

You and the polar bears can thank republican Richard Nixon for the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

superfluous comma

No shit shaper, you possess an ocean of knowledge exactly one inch deep and leagues of disinformation you spew on the web like the deepwater horizon does oil in the formerly pristine mental seascape.

That’s what “hinterland” is. Backwater. Boonies. Area of unknown. That describes his knowledge base.

No. Actually, that's what anyone who knows anything about this topic understands.

I don't even know how to address the lack of knowledge in the argument that you're making, which is essentially that a few really cold weeks negates patterns over decades. Honestly, I don't get why you're even posting on the topic - you clearly haven't studied anything about it.

And yet, you still cannot explain it.

And yet, you still cannot explain it.

If you had even a surface knowledge of the topic, you'd understand that extreme temperatures can occur under basically any circumstances. In fact, they're more the norm if "climate change" is an accepted scenario.

There is no "explaining" it. It's normal.

The most extreme weather in the world occurs at the Earth's poles. Where .... guess what ... it's very COLD!
:palm:

Hey guess how fucked up the weather is near me? The wacky weather caused a water spout to form over the bay.

I had hoped that you were just talking the piss and trolling like Legion. But sadly it looks like you were being serious which is truly sad, you're an odd man.

Stand by your OP.

You ridiculed the idea that there is a difference between climate & weather. And that's been your stance the entire thread - you haven't even commented when other posters have indicated a belief that this cold spell completely undercuts the idea of climate change in general.

You haven't explained yourself at all. You're just reduced to insults at this point, and somewhat superfluous details of your educational background.
