Tulsa race massacre

Guno צְבִי

We fight, We win, Am Yisrael Chai
On May 31-June 1, 1921, white mobs, many of them deputized and armed by city officials, attacked Black residents, homes and businesses in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As many as 300 people were killed, 35 city blocks were destroyed, including thousands of homes and other buildings. The mob targeted the prosperous Black community of Greenwood in a vicious act of white supremacy. The resilient survivors of the massacre rebuilt their community in the following decades and Greenwood today is again being renewed after decades of neglect.

Last year, on the 100th anniversary of this brutal attack, it finally began receiving some of the attention that had been deliberately suppressed for many, many decades.

We cannot have this taught in schools because it will make some feel bad

We were talking about this at lunch today. Neither of us recall learning about this event in either grade school history or h.s. We also did not learn about residential boarding schools, or the Japanese-American citizens put into concentration camps in World War II.

Guilt for what people who came before me did has been so oversold....I am not having it.

Collective guilt as well....Just No.

You really don't get it do you

I get it. It was one of many dark incidents, and not always by Whites, in US history. It also isn't indicative of the nation as a whole. It certainly isn't what America has strived to be regardless of how much you want that in order to tear the nation down.

Like Murray I am just done with racists trying to load me up with guilt over things I did not do.

NO.

How do you compare Guno's attempts to "tear the nation down" to these traitors, terrorists and criminals?:

Really ? I want to tear America down? listen you piece of white trash, America has been very good to me and my family bringing up history and understanding Americas history isn't tearing it down , If we don't understand the problem we will never move forward

Thankfully garbage like you isn't reflective in the majority of younger people in this country

Nobody alive today had anything to do with it.

And your point is? Very few people living in Germany now had anything to do with the Nazis and the deaths of 6M human beings in death camps. Does that mean that they shouldn't learn about that so that they can ensure it never happens again?

You're very typical of RWers who refuse to take responsibility for anything, particularly in their own personal lives.

You are such a liar.

I am a Progressive (non utopian)

Sane people don't feel guilt for what happened long before they are born. They do, on the other hand, learn about history so that they can elect leaders who will make sure that it doesn't happen again.

You morons-without-empathy-or-critical-thinking-abilities? You're fine if does happen again, as long as you're not the receivers of hate, but the givers.
