Two weeks after ending lockdown, Texas sees surge in cases

The total cases is up because the total testing has increased. The rate is positivity is decreasing (the positive tests /total tests) the rate of hospitalization has not increased and the daily death rate has decreased significantly. ALL positive signs.

I said that may be very possible. I would disagree with your assertion that these are all positive signs.

Decreasing positivity rate. =. Positive sign Decreasing Death rate = positive sign No increase in Hospitalizations = positive sign

I would disagree with you

How many people has Texas tested vs. how many people live in the state?

The answer to that question is why the state should continue to be locked down.

Texas has 29 million people, but has only tested 735,000.

Of those 735,000, Texas had 49,000 cases. A 7% infection rate.

If you extrapolate that rate to Texas' entire population, then nearly 2 million people in the state could end up testing positive if all residents were tested.

A decreasing positive rate would be expected if you were doing more testing of asymptomatic people. We have tested those showing the worst symptoms up to this point, that testing is finally expanding to at risk populations who are NOT showing any signs of having the disease.

No. Social distancing, antibody testing, contact tracing and gradual re-opening is the answer. You can't wish economic activity into existence. Consumers have to spend. They will not do so until they feel safe.

6 feet does not stop a virus. Tests don't prevent infection. Contact tracing is unconstitutional. Businesses are opening. You can't stop it. You do not get to dictate when a consumer feels safe, or to shutter a business because a 'consumer does not feel safe'.

It's time to come out of the basement and go to work. I know that prospect scares you. Too bad. Your agoraphobia is not my problem.

Yeah, almost as if we had tested people early, we could have found out the extent of the pandemic at the start, letting us get a handle on it early. Why didn't we do that?

What pandemic? There is no pandemic here. There is no epidemic here. There is not even a situation. The numbers are just not high enough.

No, he's become a God in yours. And actually he's much like the Old Testament God, petulant, thin skinned, angry and cruel. At least that God didn't lie, he was just a complete dick. Trump adds the lying part.

No one is treating Trump as a God except you and other Democrats.

I mean, Trump was briefed about this numerous times. The military warned him. There was a PDB in early January about it. He's just lazy and didn't care.

If the buck does not stop with him, with whom does it stop?

Thing is, I don't even blame Trump because you cannot expect a dung beetle to do anything other than haul dung, you cannot expect a raccoon to not eat trash, and you cannot expect a failed reality TV show host with six bankruptcies to rise to the moment in a time of crisis.

I blame everyone who knew that about him, but choose to vote for him, 3P, or not vote, anyway.

That is where the blame lies for this.

Trump banned travel from China. Discussion to do that took about 2 weeks. Trump does not have authority to shut down the economy, and he didn't.
