How many people has Texas tested vs. how many people live in the state?

The answer to that question is why the state should continue to be locked down.
 
Texas has 29 million people, but has only tested 735,000.

Of those 735,000, Texas had 49,000 cases. A 7% infection rate.

If you extrapolate that rate to Texas' entire population, then nearly 2 million people in the state could end up testing positive if all residents were tested.

A decreasing positive rate would be expected if you were doing more testing of asymptomatic people. We have tested those showing the worst symptoms up to this point, that testing is finally expanding to at risk populations who are NOT showing any signs of having the disease.

6 feet does not stop a virus. Tests don't prevent infection. Contact tracing is unconstitutional. Businesses are opening. You can't stop it. You do not get to dictate when a consumer feels safe, or to shutter a business because a 'consumer does not feel safe'.

It's time to come out of the basement and go to work. I know that prospect scares you. Too bad. Your agoraphobia is not my problem.

What pandemic? There is no pandemic here. There is no epidemic here. There is not even a situation. The numbers are just not high enough.

Thing is, I don't even blame Trump because you cannot expect a dung beetle to do anything other than haul dung, you cannot expect a raccoon to not eat trash, and you cannot expect a failed reality TV show host with six bankruptcies to rise to the moment in a time of crisis.

Trump banned travel from China. Discussion to do that took about 2 weeks. Trump does not have authority to shut down the economy, and he didn't.
