Unity doesn't mean everybody is in agreement.

It means we recognize the things we have in common, and we don't forget them.

We can have our differences, but unless they are expressed in a respectful way, unity is sacrificed.

Unity is the opposite of bitter polarization.

'Bitter' being the operative word.

It is possible to disagree, but do it with respect.

It begins with focusing on the argument, not the arguer.

If we all try to do that, the caliber of our conversations here will be raised.

And really, challenging conversations are far more interesting than telling one another off on a personal level.
