US retail sales beat expectations in August despite tariffs: softening labor market headwind

MY point ASSHOLE was it has gone up well OVER 100% since Trump came back in office mostly because of his tariffs.
It was $9.99 a 42 oz can back in Dec/ early Jan and is now over $22.00 for the same can.
Well OVER a 100% increase.
I buy whole bean in 3 pound bags. They went up before Trump took office, they have stayed up as they will. I recommend buying coffee that is roasted in the US though, it costs less. Probably due to tariffs, which, as a libertarian, I do not like. I find it so odd how the sides have switched. From Bernie and AOC advocating tariffs, to now the Dems agreeing with the libertarians on the subject.

Coffee tariffs: Brazil: 50%, Vietnam: 46%, Indonesia: 32% (this is on green beans, which are pre-roast). This increases prices all around, thankfully if they are roasted here you get some savings as tariffs on fully roasted beans get the full on hit as they are tariffed at the finished value.

I drink Kroger's Colombian coffee. A friend of my wife's was over and she is pretty snooty about her coffee and I served her coffee. She asked me what brand it was because she really liked it. I think a lot (not all) depends on what method you use to brew it.

If it were whole bean I may like it. The fresher the grind the better the brew. I also like darker roasts over light roasts.

The coffee I have been talking about is roasted in New Orleans, just looked at the can. and as I have said it has gone up about 130% since the first of the year.
And as I have pointed out before people ( companies ) that handle things like this could be adding a percent or two padding their bottom line.

Then you are doing what you can to avoid the cost of the tariffs. We can't avoid them entirely, very few coffee beans are grown in the US or its territories.

Damn!! More great US economic news; the Leftwhiner Panickens won't like this, especially since retail sales are such a significant driver of the US economy.

Hopefully the Democrat imbecile supporter running the Fed won't screw this up by refusing to lower US prime interest rate.

Getting popcorn & brverage to enjoy the likely upcoming lyingleft/fake news gaslighting

US retail sales increase strongly; softening labor market a headwind

WASHINGTON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - U.S. retail sales increased more than expected in August as consumers bought a range of goods and dined out, but a weakening labor market and rising prices because of tariffs pose a downside risk to continued strength in spending.

The third straight month of solid gains in sales reported by the Commerce Department on Tuesday is unlikely to prevent the Federal Reserve from cutting interest rates

From your article -
sales were partially boosted by higher prices,

Sales are up because the price of everything has gone up.

No, I do the shopping, I have experienced it first hand, and in the last year, there has been a lot of it.
We all have experienced it for years the term is not new. I have no doubt it is happening. I would have to see a study that says it is happen more now than it did previously. I do shopping too.

I like medium dark roast. I like a French press method and 200 degree water. A good drip coffee maker that gets hotter than most drip coffee makers. Also try Tim Horton's brand whole bean. It is pretty good.

If you shop for groceries, you will know that prices have gone up bigly. The numbers given do not reflect the changes at the stores.
Grade A large eggs: $2.15 per dozen; ground beef: $3.00 per lb. in 5 lb. tubes; 2% milk: $2,.51 per gal.: bread: $.99 per loaf; iceberg lettuce: $2.09 per head; etc...etc...

Central Indiana.

All MUCH LOWER than under Biden.
