I'm not defending Trump, but his general strategy is pretty clear. He threatens ridiculous things and then never does them. He does this to make the things he actually does appear to be not as bad.

IF he actually attempted to make Canada the 51st state, THAT would be hostility. Saying mean things isn't hostility. That's the Left's "words are violence" nonsense.

Tariffs, whether or not you agree with Trump's approach, also aren't violence. Most countries have tariffs on the US. Trump basically set our tariffs as half of what theirs are on us. Again, nothing hostile.

Hostility doesn't always mean "violence."

These tariffs are absolutely a hostile action, and it's certainly perceived that way by many of our trade partners. You don't need to look further than their reactions.

Ok. Assuming that's true, people make their choices. They're mad at Donald for saying mean things. I get it. They'll get over it once they realize there's nothing to be mad about.

All he's DONE is impose a tariff and not nearly as bad as many thought. If that's hostile, then surely you'd agree that most of the world is "hostile" toward the US because of tariffs, right?

Why is he imposing tariffs? It was his trade agreement from 2019, why is he imposing tariffs in the first place? Canada has not violated the treaty? Why doesn’t he just negotiate a new trade deal?

“We don’t want to be the 51st state, but we just want to be very good allies and wants things to go back to the way they were,” Canadian Janet Rockefeller said.
