Virginia rejects $3.5 billion Ford Plant

Exactly. Notice how at least one poster here -- who lives in Ohio -- said that she supports both DeSantis and now Youngkin. She's not very bright and gets her "facts" from far-RW sources, so this tells us who is promoting Youngkin as some sort of hero and maybe POTUS someday, and what kind of poorly-educated morons support him.

The plan was to play Michigan and Virginia off of each other to get the best deal in tax breaks and so forth. This is what corporations do now, they refuse to pay their own way because they have long not had to, states constantly fall for the demand to provide giveaways which greatly diminish if not erase the value of having the plants in the first place. This harming of the taxpayers has been going on for something like 40 years.

Ford is addicted to these giveaways...I expect them to pick another state....they need two otherwise the game does not work.

unemployment in my county of Michigan is at 2.8%......the price of apartments is sky rocketing because there is not enough housing......I hear California is desperate for business......maybe they'll bid high......

They are building lots of battery plants, 3 in the midwest are in progress. Someone else will be happy to have it built there.

GM is expanding its battery plant in Wayne County....LG Energy is expanding in Holland......a new plant is scheduled for (Next Energy) Big Rapids and another (Gotion)in Lansing......so that is four in Michigan alone......combined, 7,400 jobs and $8.5B in investments......

Plus the days when Michigan had a large excess of skilled labor with the desire to work are long gone.

He must think that the people in his state who might vote for him support this action, no Gov who is not an idiot would sacrifice his standing in his state for national name recognition.

Please attempt to think.

on the other hand unemployment in VA is 2.8%.......unemployment in IL is nearly 5%......they should be the ones bidding for Ford......

Who in their right mind would set up shop in Il? The political system is shredded, Chicago is not only WOKE but is a rapidly failing deeply in debt rust belt city, the schools are almost all shit....

And generally speaking there are so many people in Michigan who are basically not capable of working. My Moms family came from Michigan, both I and my dad went to MSU....this is so sad for me.

There are no right-wing memes that you can resist. Michigan has an educated populace with excellent universities. When the casinos opened up, people were lined up for blocks applying for jobs.

do you believe all the unemployed people who want to work will move to states that are NOT run by demmycrats?.....

lol....wonderful......Michigan traded its educated people trained in excellent universities for people who knew how to shuffle cards and carry trays full of cocktails without dropping them.......

All rhetoric aside, Brewer sold Arizona to China years ago when they started building solar panels there. In fact, that was a big factor in Solyndra going under due to cheap inferior competition.

Within 3 years China was gone. I'm thinking the China partnership has to do with the volume of raw materials in China. If the U.S could secure said materials elsewhere it would be nice, but I'm sure that's a challenge.

I would hope that this nation learned about the pitfalls of relying on China, after Covid interrupted supply chains.

Re. national politics, every politician uses job creation within their state as a plank in their platforms. If this were only about politics, it would seem that the jobs in Virginia would be a plus. Not unlike Manchin, I'm guessing Youngkin knows which side his bread is buttered on.
