I began to read this article and my first thought was "What a tragic waste of the life of such an attractive young girl".

My next thought was about what kind of dogs she was walking that would have done such a thing to their owner.

After I finished the article then clicked on the accompanying link to her Facebook page and saw pics of her, heavily tattooed, decked out in a Confederate flag bikini & giving the middle finger to the camera in one, literally wrapped in the Confederate flag in another and shooting a shotgun in another, my level of sympathy began to wane a bit.

Looks like she maybe was a "white pride," type. The dogs were pit bulls that were possibly trained to be aggressive, possibly for fighting. Makes me assume certain things about her lifestyle.

A Virginia woman was mauled to death by her dogs while taking them for a walk in the woods near her home, local authorities said Friday.

Local deputies found the body of Bethany Stephens, 22, in a wooded area off of Manakin Road in Goodland, Va. around 8:20 p.m. on Thursday, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.

In a news conference Friday, Sheriff James L. Agnew said Stephens’ body was found guarded by “two very large, brindle-colored pitbull dogs.” He suspected that the dogs had been bred for fighting.

In an initial report, the medical examiner’s office said Stephens had defensive wounds on her hands and arms. But the first traumatic injury she suffered was to her throat and face, Agnew said.

"It appears she was taken to the ground, lost consciousness, and the dogs then mauled her to death," he said, according to a local Fox affiliate.

The area where they found the victim’s body was covered in blood, Agnew said, adding that it took at least eight hours for investigators to collect over 60 pieces of evidence.

"It was an absolutely grisly mauling," Sheriff Agnew said. "In my 40 years of law enforcement I've never seen anything quite like it. I hope I never see anything like it again."

The dogs, which are now with Goochland Animal Control, will most likely be euthanized.

I'm thinking ".....sixty pieces of evidence" is just a polite way of saying "....60 uneaten chunks of flesh".

She apparently liked that kind of lifestyle. Guns, killer dogs, Confederate southern pride...

After my initial sympathy, all I now come away from this with is, that if you breed and train large, powerful and dangerous animals to fight and kill, or you hang around with people who do, you've got nobody to blame but yourself if/when someday they turn on you. Same with guns.

I won't even broach the subject of the possiblity of animal cruelty.

May she rest in peace anyway.

The ppl who think pitbulls are great animal companions are fucked up. The ppl who think that pitbulls are totally awesome animal companions and just like having a huge bunch of guns so you can walk around saying FUCK YOU to people with impunity are even more fucked up.

Poor woman. And poor dumb animals who were probably (hopefully) euthanized.

If you're really dog lovers, and you have an ounce or more of brains in your head (questionable re: Trumptards) you'd be pissed off over the thought of people breeding these poor creatures to fight, maul and kill each other.

Not to mention the smaller, defenseless dogs these assholes sacrifice to teach their fighter dogs to love the taste of blood.

Guess none of that ever occurred to you though, did it?

Where did you get she trained the dogs to fight? Most people who run dog fighting rings are black anyway, not Trump supporters. This story is nothing about politics and everything about a breed.

Pit bulls are dangerous and unpredictable, imo.
 
Pit Bulls are amazing dogs, as are any dogs when properly raised. If they're aggressive, it's because people have failed them.
Something's not quite right about this story...This woman was a responsible and loving dog owner who raised them from pups... Hopefully, an investigation will uncover what actually happened.

I've noticed that the pit bull is quite often the dog of choice of blacks. Would you say the same things about blacks if the pit bulls they own turned on them? Wait, no you wouldn't. You hold a different standard for difference races. A white person owns one and gets mauled, you believe they deserved it. A black person owns one and gets mauled, it's the fault of white people.

The pit bull is even more often the choice of rednecks and peckerwoods.

As for me and what I would say about the same situation had it involved a black person instead of a white person, you're talking out of your ass because you don't know jack shit.

Anyone who owns pit bulls and trains them to be violent and aggressive, is responsible for whatever happens to them imo, regardless of race.
 
An american Staffordshire terrier just won his category at Westminster. They're 9th on the list of "agggressive"dogs along with Pits in general. A Pit is not a breed, btw. And aggressive behavior towards human is not characteristic of the type. At all...

Where does it say that the dogs in this situation were trained to be aggressive? That may have been an "assumption" of an officer. Certainly not what family and friends are saying.
