Was/is school busing a success or failure?

Busing was designed to do what ending de jure segregation didn't do. De facto segregation still existed because people went to their neighborhood school and the neighborhoods were very segregated. Many still are. That's why so many that are bused, at least where I live, pass their neighborhood school on the way to where they attend.

It was not about convenience. I understood the principles fine. But if it is you getting up an hour earlier, you would not be happy.

Go ahead & try, then you can believe whatever you want....... :dunno:

Agreeing w/ someone has nothing to do w/ it.. You can disagree & not call them outrageous racial slurs & such.. Not necessary, you're an adult, mature adult :|

You agreeing, should they say so, has everything to do with it. When they didn't say what you wanted to hear, you'd whine like a little bitch like you do now.

OOooo Kkkkaay....

Carry on & be a good chap today.. :)

In researching a bit before posting this I saw that they were one of the first & very adamant NOT IN BOSTON!!!

For sure. Riots, all manner of violence over that. Believe it or not Boston up to that point was kind of a tolerant city. It was sectioned off by different groups but they all for the most part respected each other and their neighborhoods. People would work along side each other, go home to their neighborhoods. No real problems at all. Busing got rid of that tolerance.

What are the effects still present today?? I have actually never been there, merely driving through..

Lots of people, blacks and whites, broke down the barriers and learned about each other. They had daily experiences over a prolonged time. I would assume they are less bigoted and are raising less bigoted kids. But the schools returned to separate and unequal after awhile.

They aren't separate nor unequal in any way.

I’m admittedly confused why in 2019 we are talking busing from the 1970’s.
Uh, because of Biden and Harris. That's it.
Because at the Democratic debate Harris challenged Biden's civil rights credentials by saying he opposed bussing.

Any little statement like this gives the public and media the opportunity to challenge any little fact or criticize others. The media no longer has to research stories, they just wait around for somebody to hand the a story that will last for days or months. Failing to stand at a football game gave the media months of free conflict.
Oops, just saw this.

I should have been more clear. I get that it was brought up in the debate. I wasn't understanding its relevance to what we're trying to accomplish today.

It's only relevant to what Harris is trying to accomplish today.
And what she's trying to accomplish is to paint Joe as a racist.
"I don't believe you are a racist, but. . ."
And yet her plan for reparations is as racist against whitey as it gets.
She's far left and extreme enough to get the dim nom but makes Trump look downright moderate.
