The reason why John McCain was considered a hero has nothing to do with him being captured. So your premise OPie is wrong from the get go!

The reason why John McCain was considered a hero was because- when his captors discovered John McCain was the son of a Naval Admiral, there was a negotiation between the United States and the North Vietnamese to get him released and sent home- But John McCain refused their offer and said that he wanted to stay with his fellow prisoners in their support.

So because he stayed with his fellow prisoners instead of only thinking about himself and getting himself released, he is considered to be a National Hero!

So the comedian was way off base and so is anyone who is using his joke for political spin now!

The true definition of a hero, is someone that puts their life at stake to help others. He suffered greatly under that guise, and is a hero because of it. You Trumpies are just cranky he stood up to your master.

Actually we hated Palin, in that situation. McCain would have been a OK person to vote for, if he didn't have the dead weight.
 
John McCain had a unique set of constituents. His Arizonians have unique needs but still very Conservative.

The people of Arizona wanted a National Heathcare System, but one without certain mandates.

That is why, he had a history of flipping back and forth, as he didn't vote for it originally- just because of the mandates he didn't agree with. But, then he ended up defending the National Healthcare System with a thumbs down vote to end it "without" some kind of a replacement that was promised by his fellow Republicans- and that is why he gave that attempt by the totally partisan Republicans the thumb down.

Donald Trump was saying all through his campaign, that he was going to end Obamacare and replace it with a better system.

But then Congress just tried to end it without a replacement of any kind at the first chance they had, and John McCain had a problem with Donald Trump and his fellow Republicans for tricking and lying to the American people about their intentions to just shut it down period.

So yes, John McCain was a hero for Principle, Truth, and Integrity as well! Like all True American Heroes before him!

You can't just lie to the American People about your intentions- not if you want to be a successful political party or leader in your party!
