We need to cut spending

DoD is $849.8 billion.
VA is $396.3 billion.

Total is just under $851 billion.

If the intelligence budget is $549 billion (to get to $1.4 trillion) the solution is simple.

The 2024 budget for DoD is $849.8 billion.

In most years, the Department of Defense (DoD) produces a five-year plan, called the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP), that is associated with the budget it submits to the Congress. The 2024 FYDP, issued in May 2023, comprises DoD’s request for appropriations in 2024 and a series of planned budgets for 2025 through 2028.

The federal government is current running a $1.8 trillion deficit.

I believe much more of the "missing" money can be clawed back as long as the political will to so exists. There does seem to be at least some bipartisan interest in the DOGE,

A quick primer for the Crimson Tide enthusiast who wants to play in the big leagues of Defense budgeting.

At the Pentagon, the “Color of Money” isn't a Paul Newman/Tom Cruise film.

It is an internally-used term that's tossed around like a football at DoD.

Lest you jump to any chromatic conclusions, it's not related to actual colors. It's used to differentiate funding for specific appropriation categories in DoD's financial accounting structure.

Appropriation categories include budget categories like Procurement, R&D, O&M, MILPER, and MILCON, among others. Each category is known colloquially as a different color of money.

You might encounter this if you do a deep dive, so I thought it'd help to have a scorecard.

I was not trying for any big leagues. Certainly not on defense budgets.

But you are correct that I am a Crimson Tide fan.

It requires regulation at the federal level even if it just the rules and regulations. Air traffic control is an interstate and international issue. The later is clearly a federal function not a state one. By putting the system at the federal level, you avoid duplication of effort, differences in operational methods and equipment, etc.

It's like the interstate highway system. That is run federally because these are both interstate and defense roads. Standardization is required for them.
you know most of these libertarians really ONLY believe in large corporations and privatization, consequences be damned.

fucking libertarians.

The U.S. deficit's unchecked growth since the 2010s has surged drastically, greatly overshadowing the last period of surplus (in green) back in the 1990s.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service grant (2023)

Amount: $497,127

Recipient: Hispanic Access Foundation

Purpose: Many underserved communities of color remain under-represented in the Federal workforce. Federal agencies such as the US Fish and Wildlife service are slowly making progress to build a federal workforce that draws from the full diversity of the US population. Hispanic Access Foundations vision for their MANO project initiative is to build a strong number of inspired, skilled, culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse young people who have experienced natural resource internships with the US fish and wildlife service. These internships could lead toa potential career with the service, resulting in a diverse workforce of conservationists that is truly reflective of the community and overall population. Our objective for this program aligns with the government-wide strategic plan to advance Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal workforce.

The financial burden of illegal immigration in 2022 was staggering.

Federal costs alone hit $66.5B.

However, when you add state and local costs, which are not often highlighted, the total soars to $180B.

Considering illegal immigrants only contributed about $31.4 billion in taxes, the overall burden on citizen tax payers was $150 billion.

Add in another $150+ billion moved out of the US in wire transfers in a loss to our economy.

DEI is designed to promote discrimination against white men.

Federal law prohibits employment discrimination based on race and sex.

So why is DEI even tolerated, much less funded by the U.S. Department of Education — to the tune of over $1 billion dollars per year?
