We're a pro-choice nation

It still is considered barbaric.

As for life still to be born or not born, it's true abortion became illegal under religious dominated law in the Middle Ages, but it became legal and widely practiced in some states in the early years of the country and it was widely practiced in Native American tribes. Where it was not practiced even children had the sense to know what "children" are.

So you quote barbarians as not barbarians. You can't make this stuff up!

The claim by Republicans that life is sacred and begins at conception is completely situational.

If they start losing elections and start to permanently alienate Gen X and women, they will begin to quietly tip-toe away from radical abortion bans in the same way they quietly tip-toed away from all their efforts to make constitutional amendments banning gay marriage.

Marriage has no meaning among gays. They cannot reproduce.

The abortion pill is a great example of how irrational some of the arguments can be.

How could anyone oppose that? The cells that have developed at that point are microscopic. As far from sentience and cognitive development as a skin cell.

I remember reading an article about a pharmacist in the south who tried to stop selling birth control pills because he was pro life. It gets to a level of absurdity.

Blatant lie.

The further Republicans push this, the more Democrats are going to win...

Hey, I get it. Sometimes something is so morally wrong, it is better to lose while fighting it, than to win while giving in to it. But make no mistake about it, this is a loser for Republicans.

Side point, if abortion is murder, then shouldn't it be illegal even when it is a 12 year old rape victim? So why aren't Republicans loudly saying they are against 12 year old rape victims getting abortions?

Cheating isn't winning. RQAA.

I almost agree with you here. If only you had said there should be only 4 situations. The fourth which I would add would be:

If the person in who's body the pregnancy is happening just wants an abortion.

Then your list would make sense.

Murder for convenience is still murder.

Says who?

Most of America thinks it should be available for the 1st trimester, regardless.

There are other circumstances where women are careful, and still get pregnant. And there are many cases that they get pregnant against their will, but can't prove it in a court of law.

It needs to be legal in the 1st trimester. We can all work to try to make it more rare.

You don't get to speak for everyone. Omniscience fallacy.
Murder for convenience is still murder.

Not really, TOP.

Nobody wants to use it as birth control. There are too many other easier, less intrusive methods. But there are people in this country attempting to make access to those kinds of birth control illegal also.

In my opinion, attempting to criminalize abortion is 99% a religion driven thing...mostly Christian driven.

Gotta wonder why. It is possible Jesus never even mentioned abortion. He certainly didn't make it important enough for any of the writers to mention it.

Abortion is used as birth control, dumbass. Blatant lie.
God's opinion on abortion is mentioned in various places in the Bible. Jesus is the Son of God and teaches the same thing. You are making a blatant lie here as well.

No dumbfuck that isn't what they do. They council and teach young women about birth control and where to get it and how to use it. Their education of the young has cut the number of abortions and cases of sexually transmitted diseases in this country in half or more. Yes they do refer those who are pregnant and don't want to have a child where to get an abortion but they don't perform them nor talk them into it. Your ignorance is astounding. The rightwing idea to "defund Planned Parenthood" would do nothing but cause the number of abortions in this country to skyrocket.

A new report from the Guttmacher Institute finds that U.S. abortion rates have reached a historic low since 1973 when Roe v. Wade made abortion legal across the country. This low is due to a decline in pregnancies overall, including increased access to birth control since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was enacted in 2011. “This report confirms what we’ve long known to be true — that increasing people’s access to affordable and effective methods of birth control leads to fewer abortions. The report also shows that restrictive state laws are not responsible for a reduction in abortion. This shouldn’t be up for debate.

Cutting off Planned Parenthood does mean reducing access to birth control. Access to birth control reduces unplanned pregnancies, and 40 percent of unplanned pregnancies end in abortion.

The right truly doesn't give a flyin fuck about how many abortions are performed in this country when they say defund Planned Parenthood. Those who want to "defund" PP are truly PRO abortion because what they want will cause the number of them to skyrocket.

Blatant lie. Planned Parenthood councils abortion.

And getting more so. Close to 60% consistently in polls support a woman's right to choose.

Of course they have a “right” to choose. Have you ever heard of the sovereign citizen movement? It’s basically a bunch of half-wits who believe that the only laws that apply to them are federal laws and the Constitution. So they run around in unregistered pieces of crap with the VIN numbers obscured, no driver’s licenses, and no insurance. They won’t give the cops any information, and repeatedly declare that the cop is impeding their “constitutional right to travel”. The more savvy cops will tell them they are completely free to leave and continue their constitutionally guaranteed “travels”….just not in their unregistered, uninsured death traps and their unlicensed asses aren’t driving. What’s this have to do with abortion you may ask? There is no constitutional requirement or even mention of, motor vehicle registration, insurance, or driver’s licenses. Those are STATE laws and regulations. The 10th amendment gives the STATES the ability to regulate those things not specifically mentioned in the Constitution. Things like motor vehicle registration, insurance, or driver’s licenses...and abortion. Think the abortion laws in your state are draconian? Move to a high tax blue shithole and kill your babies to your heart’s content. Or you could exercise your constitutional right to travel and drive your ass over the state line where you can have a legal abortion. The important thing is, stop pushing your ethical beliefs (or lack of ethical beliefs) on the communities that DEMOCRATICALLY elected people to represent their positions in legislatures.

Everyone has the same goal: make abortions rare.

You guys only THINK you want to make abortions rare. if people started exercising self discipline in the form of keeping their flys zipped and their legs closed, there’d be no requirement for any abortion laws at all, and it would be much harder to drag the rest of the jackass agenda into practice.

But keep them legal. It's middle ages stuff to ban them.

Abortions are not illegal.

Murder for convenience is still murder.

Murder is a legal term which is defined by law. Legal abortions are no more "murder" than executions of people convicted of capital crimes.

There are differences. I acknowledge that. But no matter the differences...legal abortions are NEVER murder.
