I suspect that is because we choose our politicians (both parties) from the human population...and among humans, almost all are more concerned with themselves and their families than with the general population.

I don't think politicians are MORE corrupt than others...its just that politicians have the opportunity to use their corruption the way they do. The big shots of industry are in that same position. The man and woman in the street...just is not able to turn their "corruption" into big gains.

That all said...I HOPE the GOP is in trouble, because besides being "corrupt"...they are incompetent. They do not know how to govern...and in my opinion, we'd be much better off with the GOP serving as the loyal opposition.

I was not speaking to individual politicians but to the parties themselves. That there are no "blue dogs" and you hear "RINO" being bandied about almost daily is an indication that the parties are corrupted by their leaderships and will not allow anything other than loyalists to the agenda to escape unscathed.

I'm kinda with you on that, Kacper.

But I am a pragmatist...and although I am a registered Independent, I mostly vote for Democrats. I seldom expect to get my expectations met, but I feel I have a better chance with the Democrats than with the Republicans. People do that. Lots of racists vote for the Republicans. The probably doubt they will get their expectations met, but I expect they think they have a better chance with the Republicans than with the Democrats.
