I understand your reasoning, but consider this: If God walked up to you and shook your hand and told you who He was, would you believe him?
I'm happy to answer this question. If God were to walk up to me, the conversation would go something like this:
God: "Hey, IBDaMann, I wanted to shake your hand; I like your approach on the "abortion" issue
Me: "Well, thank you. So you are actually real!"
God: "Well, duhhhh"
Me: "Really, I wasn't convinced. I expected that if you were real, that you would have had no problem taking out a full-page ad in the WSJ ... however your random number generator is F ... well what I mean to say is that it is really good, so you did have that going for you.
God: "I knew you'd like it. I loaded everything into and just let it go crazy."
Me: "So Into the Night is wrong then, you know, about the continuum thing, right? You got the ball rolling with a silent Big Bang, right?
God: Well, ehhhh .... look, I'm not going to give you *ALL* the answers right now, I just wanted to let you know that you're doing a good job, just hang in there.
Me: I guess I'm a believer now
God: Well, you need to realize that you are in the "Doubting Thomas" category, you don't get quite as many points for that.
Me: Fair enough, so in what do I believe? Christianity, Islam, other? Any particular denomination thereof.
God: Look, you need to go back and revisit the evidence I laid out for you. Just give it your best shot. I've left word at the gate that if you show up with
@gfm7175, he can escort you in, and you can avoid the purgatory line (the coffee is terrible).
Quite right. I call it the Church of No God. It is a fundamentalist style religion.
You've always gotten that right.
The trouble is, too many people think this religion is 'atheism'. They don't know English.
... and many people are inclined to take phony claims of atheism on face value.
